Re: Turbo's gone on B5.5 1.9TDI 130PD...

There was no oil showing on the dipstick - so it looks like it's dumped a lot of oil. (It was leaving a line of oil all over the car park). Didn't have any errors showing up on the car dash and couldn't tell if it was in limp home mode.

Turbo's gone on B5.5 1.9TDI 130PD...

I sold my car a couple of months ago to a work colleague - I borrowed it to take it drive to KFC - and on the way back I heard a pop and then a wheee... sound and anytime I accellerated it made the noise, and then when parking there was loads of smoke, and oil was leaking. :0 We've had someone look ...

Re: worn injectors

How old is your car? saloon or estate?
What do you get if you stick to 70mph on a motorway? - you should be seeing around 49mpg/50mpg
Have you had your plenum drains unblocked?

Re: worn injectors

Do your brakes stick on at all at the front or rear, or is there any excessive wear on any of your pads (any of them wear down quickly or more on left than right etc)? I had very poor mpg for a while due to brakes sticking. Needed a new brake servo in the end: http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewto...

Looks good - Did you spray them or leave them as is? Tyres could do with some "back to black" :)

Let me know when you get the centre caps - they should be in the post now.

Re: Paypal ---PLANKS

Paypal are totally biased toward the buyer in my opinion - I think you're generally okay to use them to buy stuff - but selling is always a risk - and you must use recorded delivery (trackable online) - and must make sure you're sending to confirmed address. Horrible horrible company, but even thoug...

Have you checked your plenums to see if they're blocked? Is there any stagnant water around where you park your car? Is your pollen filter dry? Are you carpets dry?

Re: Ive decided its time

I paid £290 for cambelt + pretensioner kit + alternator + waterpump and this was the cheapest locally to me. Most wanted £350 for cambelt and waterpump. Make sure you get the waterpump done at the same time as well.

The garage found a cup of water in the brake servo - this is being replaced - hopefully this will resolve all my problems with the car.

Re: Finally got it :)

Looks a lot like my first passat :) Check with VW to see if there's any recalls regarding the plenum chamber - it'll possibly need unblocking. Also I'd definitely recommend replacing the headunit - but would also recommend trying it with the stock speakers - they are surprisingly good in my opinion ...

Re: Key (remote locking) programming.....

I'm in a similar position, except I bought a spare key off ebay, none of the above have worked for me either. I've got vagcom but only the shareware version and it wont let me save a new key to the system :( I think I'd need the full version to do this... If you search for the vag com locator on her...

Re: Key (remote locking) programming.....

I tried the above and it didn't work for me... looks like I'll need to use vagcom. The manual says this: Syncronisation: If the vehicle cannot be unlocked by pressing the opening button, it could be that the code of the key no longer matches that of the control unit in the vehicle. This can occur if...

Re: Key (remote locking) programming.....

Found this on vwvortex: Programming the remote… You can do this with either a VAG-COM or two keys of your car. But if you only have one key, then a VAG-COM (or your dealer) is your only solution. See the VAG-COM instructions here: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/vw-remote-matching.html"...

I've ordered a blank new key off ebay - they say it comes with the transponder - and they've emailed instructions for programming the remote - but it doesn't look like they've sent any details on how to program the immobiliser... (or will it program the immob as well, if it's blank?) or do I still n...

They've changed my flexi today - said it was contaminated. They also said the rears were very low so are changing them as well. Apparently this is quite a common problem on the Audi A4, A6, Superb, Passat, due to the plenum chamber filling, and the brake servo sucking up water... http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=46527&highlight=Brakes+Sticking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ht...
