Air bag Fault

Good morning all. It's been along time since I needed assistance from the wealth of knowledge on this site, but I'm back with an issue I need help with. I have an air bag fault light on my dash and need to fix the issue before the MOT in a couple of months. A good friend of mine diagnosed with the s...

Re: Basic Gearbox Removal Guide.. On Yer Back Style..

That's a good guide. Looks like I'll be swapping my gearbox out soon as mine's constantly trying to jump out of forth gear. Unless there's a simple fix for that particular problem.

Re: Flat Battery

The last two mornings have been just fine. Starts on the first blip of the key....as it always has. It's a bit of a puzzler but I don't reckon it's the battery at fault. Fortunately I have a second car (and even a third...my sons) at my disposal.

Flat Battery

Anybody ever had this: I went to my car on Monday morning to find the battery flat...barely enough energy to tun the starter. So i jumped in the SLK to go to work. On returning I jumped the car and went out for a run to get some charge back into the battery while looking around to find out if I'd le...

Re: 5 speed manual gearbox.

I take it then that the GGB and the FHN are exactly the same?

Dropped the input shaft eh! I take it that it was a bearing failure? I wonder if mine is the same. I always assumed it was the gears..maybe not!

5 speed manual gearbox.

It's been a long time sinse posting on here but I have a problem that needs to be sorted re my gearbox. I have a 5 speed manual attached to a AWX engine, a B5.5 54plate model. The gearbox has been a bit whiney for a while but has now reached a new noise level and the excitement of a potential box fa...

Re: Advice before i buy please new member, oil light

I think my biggest concern here is the garage/forecourt/sales team are selling a car with faults. Why would they not repair these faults before offering it up for sale? I would have a full VAG-COM diagnosis to find out if there are any other faults logged.
Personally...I'd walk away.

Is it cracked on the outside anywhere...if so a smear of clear silicon should do the trick.

Re: Help troubleshooting remote central locking/CCM issue.

Did you bag the CCM unit unit or was it already like it?

It could be permanantly damaged due to previous water ingress dispite the repairs to wires you mentioned in your OP

To rule out the brake discs being the cause of your wows swap them over and see if the problem moves to the other side.

Re: Real world fuel economy of the 1.9tdi 110BHP AFN?

My thoughts are that you have made an error in your calculations. The fuel tank on these are 62lt (rounded to 13.5 imperial gallons). So 700miles divided by 13.5 gallons = 51.85mpg. The assumption here is that you ran the car to empty and used all the available fuel .(I know you didn't ...therefore ...

Next option then is to do a diagnostic and see what fault codes come up.

Re: B5.5 track rod end replacement

I changed both my TRE's last week. The hardest part was applying heat to the part in order to unsieze the buggers. Lemforder are great...so people say. Meyle do a HD version that comes in cheaper than lemforder. Make sure you copper grease it when you put it back together. FFS dont use cheap TRE's.....

I'm the same here in Leicester. Just walk up to the trade counter. No questions asked regarding account. I pay cash or credit card when I use them.

As an aside...the Leicester one has just moved from the VW main stealer to Lewisher Way. Mind you they are fecking slow at serving.

Have you broke one? I've changed a few CTS's on a golf and on both my passats...nearly dropped it but never close to breaking one.
Having said that...for a euro it does buy peace of mind. :-?
