Re: Need help passenger door won't open!
My B6 had a new steering lock and convenience module/ecu fitted last week, at the main dealer. Straight away I noticed the passenger door would not open from the outside. Rang VW straight away to book it back in, mentioning the issue was not there before. They now claim the door motor and cable nee...

Google will get you drivers and a program but it won't work on a Passat B6. The B6 has to use an 'intelligent' dongle for can-bus.

It's pointless guessing. You need a code scan.

Re: Re-programming convenience unit
It might be possible offer more help if you explain exactly what the fault is and what VW have done. My guess is VW thought you had a faulty steering lock so replaced that and reprogrammed it. Is that the case?

You can't do it. The B6 passat ccm is matched to the car keys. Change the ccm and the car won't start.

Re: Replacement key for B6
The article referred to above does not apply to a B6 Passat. No B6 passat can reuse and old key. The imobiliser is built into the comfort control module with some data in the engine ecu. Adealer can't even program a new key without going on-line to Germany.

Re: Replacement key for B6
You need a key and coding from a dealer. Over £200. Almost no other option is possible. Some rare locksmiths can do it cheaper but they can also wreck your car electronics. You have been warned.

Re: Turbo Gone?
With that much smoke you need to take care. If the turbo oil seals are failing they may suddenly get worse and the engine may run on it's own oil until it explodes....Not good.

Is your oil level going down any quicker?
try holding a white rag over exhaust and looking at soot. See if it feels like it might be from oil.

Disconnect electrical connector, take screw out of motor, ease clip and twist motor until it falls out.
Glove box needs to be out first. Glove box will only release once you stick a screwdriver in the little slot on the bottom edge after taking screws out.

VCDS will tell you what the temperature sensor is reporting. That might help decide if the sensor is faulty or the thermostat is stuck.

New steering lock at dealer about £300. A DIY repair is possible if you are up to it.
