Re: b6 heater blower motor
Look behind glovebox from below. Take plastic shield off. You will see pollen filter and a small plastic bit with a bunch of wires. Thats the resistor pack. Pull off the connector and the resistor pack pulls out. I think you have to slide it sideways first. Good luck

It is usually a faulty microswitch in the lock. You need to run a VCDS scan to see what it says.

Re: Clutch Slipping
It will cost between £700 - £800 at a specialist. That includes changing the Dual Mass Flywheel at the same time.
When it goes you will be stranded so it's up to you if you wait and see or get it done now.

By the way those puddle lights martin you were talking about are these the red reflectors under the door can i just wire directly into the lights on the window buttons and put bulbs in. Yes you replace the reflectors with new lights. They are quite cheap. VW do a wire kit to plug into the door contr...

Re: Passat 2.0 tdi injector rocker procedure
All passat 2.0 diesels use Siemens PD piezo injectors. They do fail. When one fails the ecu shuts the engine down and sets a code which implies faulty wiring. Lots of garages waste time changing wiring looms when it it is the injector. You find the faulty one by unplugging them until it runs on 3 cy...

Re: rear brake pads time!!!
Sorry but your post doesn't make sense. The B6 does not have a rear pad warning. The rear pads can only be changed AFTER winding the motors back with the correct VW tool or VCDS. If you try any other way the motor gearing will break.

Re: b6 heater blower motor
Not working at all, checked fuses all ok, took it to VW for a diagnostic check and they said it needs a new heater blower motor, but i have heard that the brushes on the motor are a fault on the b5 and think that might be the case with mine. Have you tried feeding 12v direct to the blower. These blow...

Re: b6 heater blower motor
Blower working only on position 4 means the thermal fuse on the resistor pack has failed. It's behind the glove box and easy to get out. Resistor pack costs about £20 from VW or you can solder on a new fuse for about £2 from maplins.

Re: Footwell lights
The wiring isn't in place. You can buy the lights and wires from VW. The wires plug straight in to the door controller. Bit of VCDS coding and you have puddle lights.

If you work out which fuse it is on, you can move the output pin for that fuse to a non ignition bus bar in the fuse box. Then it will work all the time.

I am pretty sure you can get a repair kit for this now. The dealer just changes the electronic steering lock which is usually the cause. About £300 plus labour. If your up for it you could do it yourself.

A standard tow bar 7 way bypass relay for the tow bar electrics will work fine and not affect the car in any way if it is fitted properly. If you have original vw reverse sensors, they won't turn off when you reverse but will you care.

Re: Retro Foglight coding ????????????
It's not ccm function. You need to change the long coding in the central electrics module. It can be done by dealer or someone with VCDS if they know the coding. You shouldn't need to change the module. The b6 electrics use can-bus control, this is not the same as a B5. You may not need the coding a...

Re: Fitting towbar to my B6 estate
Rear lights and bumper are easy. Removing inside trim to solder wires and run a new feed to the fuse box or battery is a pain. Some people take the main feed from the rear cigarette lighter if they have one. Watch out for the little screw in the bumper that faces upwards in the outer wheel arch. It'...

The info can be obtained from the central electronics long coding. vag-com or dealer can tell you. Basically if fog lights were not fitted during manufacture, then they won't be enabled.
