VCDS will tell you all you need to know about the coolant temperature and what is going on. Get the car scanned.

That's nonsense. Sachs and LUK are both fitted, that's why you mustn't muddle up clutch and dmf from different manufacturers.zerocake wrote:Depends on the brand and the quality of the product. I wouldn't use anything else other than LUK for a DMF as its what you would get from the dealer.

NEVER test resistance across an airbag. It may go off in your face.

Re: airbag harness
You can cut the connector out and solder the wires together. If that don't fix the light, the airbag may be faulty. The scan normally gives a clue to the actual fault, not just its location.

Whoever did the scan should have scanned, cleared the codes, driven the car and scanned again. This scan is no good unless it is the second scan. It shows no sign of engine cut out or failed start. Get another scan.

Re: Passat CC Cruise stalk question
Ok guys I have a simple Q about the Cruise in a Passat CC. Am I right in thinking that they came with a SINGLE indicator/headlight/cruise stalk from the factory, and that at some point in 2010, they changed to a "3rd Stalk" system? I keep seeing a bunch of 08/09 cars with a 3rd stalk, and...

Re: 2011 Passat CC GT 140 TDI (DSG): Poor Performance / Econ
Switching off and on obviously reset the fault. Disconnecting the battery and touching the two cables together also helps sometimes when electronic glitches occur. The dealers only look for fault codes, they don't look through the information for signs of a fault. The fuel economy resets at the lowe...

Check the pipes to the heater. Are they hot. If so the on off valve may be stuck or the change-over part is broken. Do you have basic heating or climatronic.

You need to check which balancershaft assembly you have. If you have the early chain drive one, this is going to get expensive. You can tell from the chassis number.

Thank you for that Martin but the problem is i cant do any logs as the car is in constant limp mode and i cant go more than 2500 revs driving at all Underboost has a few causes to check. Re: Limp mode need help please?
Start the engine and watch to see if the turbo actuator on the turbo is moving. Don't pull the pipe off and rev the engine. When you rev the engine the vacuum should go down, not up so doing that is pointless. Also the system will spot that you are not actually driving so won't work correctly anyway...

Check all vacuum pipes for a leak.
replace map sensor
It may be a turbo fault but that's expensive so check cheap options first.

Find someone with vcds to read the car. Try local garage or dealer.rickyc wrote:Thanks, how do I get a fault code? It doesn't to take any longer to stop.

You need to get a fault code scan. It sounds like the antishudder flap playing up. If it sticks open you may not get a faul code. Does the engine take a little longer to stop than normal?

Get a vcds scan of the engine measuring blocks and post it so we can have a look. Not starting and no fault codes usually means a fuel problem but not always.

Just buy a recon caliper/motor from TRW via a factor and swap the motors. Takes about half an hour and price is about £200.

It's so I can connect my ctek charger up more easily than using croc clips.
I think I need M8 nuts - anyone know for sure?

My local garage says no fault code show up. Is this the camshaft sensor issue? Bty, i checked the battery and it is f...

They are talking nonsense. If you have a dpf you have to use longlife oil even on a non longlife service. I would just use longlife oil always, simple then. The price difference isn't that bad.

Just fitting a different cecm isn't enough. The coding is explained on my site but you also have to have the wiring for that module. This means for all functions to work correctly with that cecm you have to check you have the correct wiring at all pins which you almost certainly won't because your c...
