I'd prob crank a few times without starting to try get the oil up round the engine a bit. Then fire it and let it idle for 5 mins and off you go, quite hardy cars really.
Mine was recently sat up for about 4 months and fired straight up with a battery charge then checked tyres and drove 100ish ...

About timing belt- visual inspection doesn't mean anything, you don't know state of tensioner bearing, water pump bearing, so if they have done high mileage, they can fail without any signs.
