Re: Starting PD 130 after 18 months.
50k miles is not too bad, still below threshold and bearings doesn't get affected with age, neither they dry out, 6/7 years for belt probably is not too bad as well, because belt on pd130 is really thick and if it looks ok, I wouldn't be too worried. Re: Starting PD 130 after 18 months.
I'd prob crank a few times without starting to try get the oil up round the engine a bit. Then fire it and let it idle for 5 mins and off you go, quite hardy cars really.
Mine was recently sat up for about 4 months and fired straight up with a battery charge then checked tyres and drove 100ish ...

Re: Starting PD 130 after 18 months.
About timing belt- visual inspection doesn't mean anything, you don't know state of tensioner bearing, water pump bearing, so if they have done high mileage, they can fail without any signs.
Thank you, ermm 50k but 6/7 years would they most likley be noisey. Not MOT'd or insured so going ...

Re: Starting PD 130 after 18 months.
Hello Aiden, couldn't have done it without your write up. Gone back and reread it many times. Big thank you.
Thats a great tip, I'll do that, might decant it into beer bottle first, go stealth mode.
Cheers.
Timing belt needs doing timewise, had a look at the belts today, visualy no defects ...

Starting PD 130 after 18 months.
Poor thing, paid a fair bit for a good genuine car on 65k, 6 year ago, FRK gearbox whine at 120k and a rusty sprinter relegated her to being SORN.
Front on blocks, wheels stored undercover, rears pumped up to 40 PSI and rotated every 3-4 months.

6 speed FRK swapped to GVS, however , fish face here put the bolts on top for linkage back in the OLD gearbox so I wouldn't loose them. Goog plan...methodical, well done andrew.
What was not a good plan was to take old gearbox to scrappy. I have a new linkage bush on order and now realize I have no ...
