Worn 6 speed gearbox linkage repair

After my gearstick went very sloppy it was clear something was very worn, on inspection i found it was the plastic bush that pushes on to the ball near the box. You will need a gearlinkage repair kit from VW, part # 8D0 798151 at a cost of £12.40 this in part no 53 in top pic. http://i35.photobucke...

Re: B5.5 1.8T v 320d (E91) touring

My Wife has a 18t A3 (150 bhp) that goes like stink so i got a 18t Passat thinking it would be a nice fast(ish) car but slower than the Audi due to the extra weight but i was not expecting it to be as slow as it was. I now have a 130 TDI sport and it would of kicked the 18t's bum all over. I may of ...

Should be ok to sort out when i get the car up in the air as there is only 2 nuts to take off and the top link that may be a bit of a pain to get to. M...

Re: Gear change now like a floppy co*k

Thats how it started with mine, although it would go in to 6th after putting it back in to 5th then back to 6th. Had it out last week end with the normal 5th to 6th problems then it all went tits up. Found this on the web and has some vids on the 6 speed box linkages and could be of interest. http:/...

Re: Gear change now like a floppy co*k

My settings are ok so must be at the gearbox end. I can get all gears so hoping its not a internal problem and just a linkage problem. if i get the weather this weekend i will be taking the linkage out and take it from there.

Re: Gear change now like a floppy co*k

Had a look at the plastic ball and cup and dont think its that :( Think my problems now lie with the link to the gearbox. Had my hand on it (very hard to get to from the top of the engine) and give it a wiggle and its well sloppy and the red rubber gaiter is split. How much of a pain in the bum is t...

Gear change now like a floppy co*k

Got a 2002 TDI 130 sport with the 6 speed box with 180000 miles on the clock. Went to change gear yesterday and was a bit stiff so had to put a bit pressure on it to get it to go in to gear, 5th in to 6th took it out of 6th to 4th then lost 5th and 6th. Now its its very loose in any gear and you don...

Now im not slagging off cyclists as im one myself but as ive said already i drive a 44ton truck and what really pis*es me off is when a cyclist comes down my near side when im waiting at lights and sits in my blind spot.

Do they not know how dangerous this is?

Re: Driving pet hates, Whats yours???

My biggest one at the mo is drivers who have on there rear fog lights on when its raining. Why do drivers do this? If the spray is real bad on the M,way.. i do this, i don;t fancy being arse-ended by a 44ton jaloppy I drive a 44 ton so called jaloppy (safety checked every 6 weeks) and it just boils...
