Will take offers on this, as I need the space now and would rather someone had the use from it. Be a shame to weigh it in in!

B3/B4 5 stud conversion.
Hi, I've just put an add up in the sale section for the bits to do this if anyone's interested. Have the hubs, brakes (288,s) steering rack, drive shafts, wishbones, rear beam etc. All off a B4 VR6 bought from a forum member off here a few years back. Got to be quite rare parts now.

Re: Anyone with an AAZ I have a question for you!!
TD's are a bit more revvy than tdi's. Mine says 2.500 @ 60 and a tad under 3k @70. however according to sat nav on my phone the speedo is 5-10 % on the optimistic side. Still should give you a good enough idea if its right or not.

Re: Clutch pedal stays down (Hydraulic) 1991 Passat Esate
Had this on my B3, a couple of years ago it was the master cylinder that was knackered. Think it cost close to £100.
Word of advice, make sure it is correct for your model as the later (B4) ones are different.

Re: B4 couple of questions
Hi, had the first fault on my B3, exactly the same, turned out to be the clutch master cylinder. Bit fiddly but not difficult.
C/L gets a bit temperamental on these cos of age I s'pose. Gave up with mine and put one of those cheap ebay C/L kits on. Had it for a year now, works a treat!

Re: Tunning Umwelt AZZ Engine
Hi, I put a 1.9 AAZ in my B3. It came from a B4, motor is same as yours except it had the normal pump with the boost control on it. The motor was pretty sluggish in the B4 but when I swapped it into the B3 I dumped the cat and blanked the egt both ends threw the valve away and put a Rover 220 boost ...

Yeah, straight swap unless the B4 has solid discs which are narrower so have slightly different carriers. in which case swap the B3 callipers pads and disks together.

Re: B3 1.6 turbo diesel downpipe
Hi, if you can weld or know someone who can best off making one up as the standard down pipe is very restrictive. If not you'll probably find one if you hunt around. One off a golf mk2 1.6td would probably fit too as same engine. Good luck with it, if it's looked after it's a really good engine the ...

Car Insurance time...again!!
The Insurance on my B3 estate is due, I swapped the 1.6 td for a 1.9td a while back and stuck some coil-overs on it. Nothing too radical but I'm figuring its about time I got round to declaring it on the insurance. Anyone know which companies are best to tap for a quote? I've got loads of NCB and a ...

Re: Brake & Suspension Upgrade
Hi, You'll need different carriers to go from solid to vented disks, B3 GTs had the carriers you need, or any other VW you can think of that might have 256mm vented disks.
The TA Technix coil-overs are great, got a set on my B3, well worth the money, no complaints at all!
Cheers.

Re: 1.6 TD starter motor noisy - any ideas?
Our 1.6td makes a similar noise to this when you start it from cold. I think the starter is not disengaging straight away. Funny moo noise lasts about 4 seconds. It's been doing it for two years and about 15k miles, and its still going!

Re: boost pin up for grabs
That missing sensor at the top of the turbo is the switch for the water pump. The 1.6td has a water cooled turbo. the water pump is on the front of the block below the cylinder head. Having said that my g/f's got a 1.6td golf and the wiring connectors to the cooling switch have been snapped since we...

Re: boost pin up for grabs
Got a Rover 220 boost pin for my AAZ from Brickwerks for about 35 quid, If I remember right it has a steeper angle to the 1.6td pin so gives a bit more boost. I thought that was expensive new! DE-catted it and took the egr valve off and it goes quite well. One day maybe I'll get the time/money to ge...

Re: 1.9 to 1.6 turbo upgrade advice
Don't think the 1.6td downpipe will match up with the rest of your exhaust system if it's a 1.9td., it's very restrictive anyway. Best to make one up out of 2.5 or 3 inch tube if you can. It'll allow the turbo to spool up quicker. I recently put a 1.9td in my B3 to replace the 1.6td. So the other wa...

Re: Headlight upgrade.
Cheers for the info, ordered some Osram Nightbreaker plus bulbs along with a relayed headlight loom so they power straight off the battery with no voltage drop. Should be spot on when fitted to the mk2. I'm quite looking forward to seeing the difference. Thing is I'll probably have to do my B3 now! :D

Was wondering if anyone on here had any knowledge of those HID kits on ebay. The G/F is complaining the lights on her mk2 golf are a bit rubbish. I was gonna wire them direct to the battery with some relays and some decent bulbs, Then I saw these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H4-H4-3-Bi-Xenon-HID-Conver...

Re: Views on using Auto Trans fluid as oil additive
Forgot to say, when you take the sump off you will see a wire gauze in the end of the oil pick up. Looks a bit like a tea strainer. Its held on to the oil pump with 2, 6mm bolts (10mm socket). Make sure Its clean before you put the sump back on. It's worth taking it off and blowing it through with a...

Re: Views on using Auto Trans fluid as oil additive
If your worried about poo in the oil I'd pull the sump when you do the oil change. shitty job but worth doing once if you're gonna keep the car for any length of time. If it's not been done before you might have a layer of scummy poo over the inside of the sump. Seen it before on my car. At the end ...

Re: B3 1.6td oil?
I use the same oil all year round too in my TD. "Asda own brand oil for turbo diesels". Been using it for about 5 years, never a problem. Runs sweet, and you can pick it up with your shopping...or send the missus out for it!
