Difference between B3 & B4 Wiring can anyone help?

Hi, not posted on here much before but been registered for a while and was hoping somebody could help with technical info. I have a B3 wagon (1991) that needs a little work and a B4 wagon(1995) that will be supplying the parts. As well as getting the engine and box, I'm also going to put the B4 inte...

Re: occasional power loss on acceleration, 1.6 td

Yeah I'd definitely change the fuel filter if it was me. More than likely has some poo in it and might fix the rest of your fuelling problem. I think the fuel pump mod you are talking about (line dot up with notch) refers to turning the fuel pin in the LDA, the big saucer shaped thing on top of the ...

Re: occasional power loss on acceleration, 1.6 td

Oh right, I know it got hacked a few weeks back, maybe its still not happening for new registrations. My login still works but that was from before the poo happened.

Re: occasional power loss on acceleration, 1.6 td

Hi, I've got one of these and there's definitely something up if it will only do 84mph. should do around 105mph at approx 4000-4200 rpm or there abouts. They are governed on the fuel pumps, won't rev any higher than around 4200 rpm in top gear without pump mods. These are brilliant engines when they...

Re: B3 Water temp gone through the roof!

Yeah, your pretty much there, binnacle out, remove gauges, they slide out, located on posts, then slide out pcb and the voltage regulator is on the reverse side. You can't miss it, as you look at the back of the pcb its in the top corner. Its a small black square'ish component with 3 pieces of wire ...

Re: B3 Water temp gone through the roof!

Hi all, I've just had a similar problem myself, not the water temp problem but the fuel/water temp gauge not working, it turned out to be the voltage regulator on the back of the clocks, dead easy to change, takes about half an hour, costs about 12 quid from a main dealer, alternatively you can rob o...

Brake upgrade

Hi, Does anyone know if mk4 golf calipers for 288mm disks( or any others) have the same carriers as Passat GT? I'm trying to fit 256mm vented disks to my B3 GL Passat. Problem is my car has 256mm solid disks and the carriers aren't wide enough to take the new disks and pads so I'm looking for a chea...

B3 Suspension options

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to this site, I've just bought a totally bog standard B3 1.6td gl estate with 131k on it, its full grandad spec and I'm lovin' it. I've been looking round to see what's possible in the way of suspension upgrades and apart from hot tuning coilovers I've not seen much. Is t...
