Re: EGR, head light, audio...

If your EGR is the same as earlier ones, Mr Muscle will clean it. There are guides on YouTube and on VW communities.
Others have used diesel iirc.. not sure about alternatives, I used Mr Muscle.

Re: Keeping our Passats running smooth..

Nothing like Mr Muscle . +1 for mr muscle, did it four years ago improved turbo response. Smells a bit for few mins after. Not need to do again since egr has been removed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Aye.. I know the virtues of the stuff, was just hoping to get away with not doing it [emoji3...

Re: Keeping our Passats running smooth..

I was building up to "Mr. Muscling" the turbos on our ASZ and AWX engines.. would adding 2T negate the need for this?

You brought up the subject of mot.. it wouldn't have gone that route if you hadn't.

Re: EGR cover - the bit that fits in the engine top cover ... :-)

They are allowed to remove covers (as are mot testers) if they're not bolted down. Whether they do/will check this poo is unclear (and probably unlikely), but they can.. And what if there's an accident involving an obviously illegally modified car.. Insurance could be invalid, perhaps.. Makes no odd...

Re: EGR cover - the bit that fits in the engine top cover ... :-)

You can't legally remove the EGR any more.. a friendly tester might let it go but there's been reports of plod checking - how true this is, dunno.. You can do the delete and retain the valve (and also the asv). That's what I did after speaking to 'my' tester (who is friendly but not willing to risk ...

Re: Catch can on rocker 'hockey puck'

Have you deleted the egr? Not yet.. I'll probably do the same as I did for the Golf and pick up a spare egr & inlet manifold, clean them and swap them over (and delete it). Weather's turning grim now though, it might have to wait.. **edit to add** Ordered egr blanking plates, guess I'm doing th...

Same way for the catch can mate... one side goes in other goes back to the intake... sorted.... I know what you made up for the golf... same will do.. engines are the same mate so what you did on the golf can be executed on the passat ;) Gonna be a bit of a oh fiddlesticks! working out the 180 degr...

Re: Catch can on rocker 'hockey puck'

I didn't say I was intending to plug it..
How can it vent back into the engine, there's only one outlet?
I could fit a separator in-line, it worked well on the ASZ in the Golf.
Kinda just wanted a catch can on this though, the layout in the Passat will make the separator a pain to plumb in.

I'd either buy guaranteed used or, more likely, hit up AliExpress for a new one (if it's a significant saving)

Catch can on rocker 'hockey puck'

Looking to add a catch can to the pipe from the hockey puck (think that's what it's called) on the cam cover.. What size bung do I need for the other end or.. Would it be better to add one inline and keep the pipe to the inlet? Is it ok just to add the can or is the system more complicated than that...

My vcds cable is black.. the blue one is KKL..
This one looks like mine (not recommending it, just looks like this)

I have '52 plate Golf and '04 Passat.. mine works great on both, I just close the 'software out of date' notification when it pops up.

Re: 2nd gear crunch

You can’t adjust the linkage with regards to the box so far as I’m aware. Only where the shifter sits so to speak. Apparently, and I've not looked into it - just going by what I've been told, where the linkages attach to the box you can adjust up to about 5mm.. one adjusts side to side and the othe...

Cool.. thanks..
It's done ~200 miles now and still crunching. Longest journey is 12miles.. wondering if a longer run is necessary?

Not looked at how to adjust the linkage yet but reckon this is going to end with a replacement box and am not in a rush for another GGB.
