Thanks for that, think that handle clip was to far up. Also noticed that the golf lock barrel end was a bit shorter than the leon one. Switched over the ends and slackened the handle clip and works grand now.

Thanks will have a look and see. Have a spare ccu from another 1999 tdi I'm breaking so if that's the problem hopefully there the same. One of the problems was the windows not working and I had tried other window motors to see if it made a difference but it didnt though at the weekend I held the key...

The only warning light I get is the glowplug/engine light flashes every-so-often and it goes out when I press on the brake pedal, could that be something to do with it?

yea i realise the glovebox light one after a while. So previous owner must have been looking at the climate control problem and not connected the light again. Took out my glove box there and notice a wire that isnt pluged in, dont know what it is or where it goes hopefully someone can tell me incase its to do with my hot air not working. when i see 444 02 i try pressing hot and cold to scroll thru aswell as trying other buttons but nothing happens. Could i have a faulty unit then?

Got the code there, held in recirc button and econ. On the left side it said 444 and on the right 02. Anyone know what that means?

Found out the ecu needs replacing as its malfunctioning and reading faults when everythings fine. They said to take it to VW for a second opinion but I was wondering can I just buy another ECU of another diesel passat and fit it or does it need coding etc?

Brake lights are definatly working just checked there now. Cars booked in for tomorrow to get checked on the computer to see if the fault can be found

I noticed today that the glow plug light didnt go out for a couple minutes when I turned the key, so after waiting and it not going out I started the car and it was fine. Could i be geting the flashing glow plug light when driving because the i need them replaced?

Yea the engine is reading 90 on the temp gauge, guessing must be an electrical fault or just the unit then?

B5 climate control always cold.
My climate control doesnt warm up, even after a two hour drive its still cold also when I turn the fan speed up theres a clicking noise, would these be related problems and anyone no what to check/replace first?

B5 1.9TDI warning light?
Hi everyone, just bought another b5 passat 1.9tdi and noticed on the way home the orange warning light that looks like a coil flashed a few times but when I tapped the brakes it when out. Why would this be? Any information would be great thanks.
