Re: Burning smell through vents.
None of the above. It literally comes from the left hand dash vent for about 30 seconds when started from cold. Im thinking an aircon temp sensor in the ducting but cant see one. There is nothing else in the heater box. Its not coming from under the bonnet or scuttle. Iv been driving it all day and ...

Burning smell through vents.
Right people. I have a 2008 B6 passat. I have a random burning smell coming through the vents. It is an electrical burning smell. Its aircon not climate. Now the weird bit. Its worse through the left hand dash vent and is only there when its been left. Like overnight and goes after about 5 mins and ...

Re: B5 pinch bolts
Give them a good soak in wd40 everyday for a week before you do it. Never had a problem getting them out and iv dont loads. Just work the bolt backwards and forwards to loosen it off then tap it out.
Youl need to take it out to get the springs off or its a right pain in the bum.

Got to be the MAF sensor starting to go. These dont show a fault code. It wont be limp home mode if the engine warning lights not on.
Do you know of anyone near you with the same car you could swap some bits off to try?

Re: B5 1.8T Starting Fault
Coil packs dont always show up. Theres 2 sensors 1 for the gauge and one for the ecu.
VW have a recall on coil packs on ALL of there petrol engines from 98 onwards i have heard aslong as they are vw coils not aftermarket. Might save you some moolah.

I reckon youv got 2 seperate faults there mate. The climate control fan is a seperate fan to the cooling fan. Does your climate not display anything at all?

Re: complex suspension set up & split cv gator.
If its n/s you dont have to take the suspension off. Just undo the hub bolt and pop the cv joint out of the hub. The wind the hub bolt into the end of the shaft and itl draw it off the shaft. Iv done a few o/s ones aswell where ive managed to get the joint out of the hub without taking the arms off.

If he didnt remove the seal when he took the old filter off itl never seal. It comes out at quite a rate. He could have over tightened it and split the cooler. If the filter is not tight then the pressure will cause it to pour out.

Unplug the MAF and try it. Also have you checked the pump timing? My old passat was a couple of teeth out on the pump. Caused alsorts of trouble.

Re: 2001 tdi fuel leak problem please help!!!
Definatley sounds like the sendor seal. Mine leaked like a siv when i filled it up becasue the nut holding it all in was loose. Probably the same on yours. If you lift the boot mate, theres a cover on the plastic panel too remove to get top the sender. Take all that off and see if the nuts loose. Th...

Re: TDi cambelt replaced car lost power
Deffo sounds like pump timing is out. Did u use the pin in the pump and block in the cam? Also the mark on the flywheel fo the crank? The crankshafts turn very easy at tdc and are easy to get a tooth out.

Re: problems!!!!
Sounds like the water pump is gimped. As said rev it and see if coolant is returning to the tank. They are a plastic impellor on the water pump and they come loose on the shaft so they dont turn. very common but are cambelt off job.

I had some ebay cheapies on my old saloon. Came from germany 160 quid delivered for the lot. Theyv been on there 5 years and done 75k. I replaced one lower arm 3 months ago because the ball joint was creaking and that was because the boot was split. It was lowered 40mm on 17s for over a year. I fitt...
