Re: Aerial/Radio Reception Question.

You need the amplifier!! My standard head unit has rubbish reception and it is down to the aerial base unit (water ingress!!). I was told for an aftermarket head unit you buy a seperate lead to plug in at the back which powers the aerial (presumably the autoleads device you mentioned?). Be careful w...

Get the "Check oil level" warning on startup which is really bugging!!! I have read several articles which say it could be the sender, some say the oil...

Re: 1.8T: What sort of mpg do you get?

Chipped and panel filter, stainless exhaust:

Motorway - daily commute (40miles each way) 30-35 MPG at 85-90 Mph!!

Round town - usually around the 25-30 mark depending on who is in the car (high end if its the wife!!)

That was the problem with mine too!!! Could lock the car from the boot but the boot never locked, solenoid was jammed and the little wire connecting the solenoid to the mechanism was missing, all sorted for a tenner, bargain!!

Re: Brake caliper sticking

Only thing I can think of is a faulty ABS valve?? I know when you bleed the brakes you have to be careful not to push the piston back in without bleeding at the same time as the valve can flip back the wrong way. This may be causing the problem and would explain why they seemed ok after cleaning up ...

Re: Stainless Exhaust Fitted!!!

Definately made my mind up now to get a Longlife exhaust now. I too have a K&N panel filter so I'm glad it makes it a bit throatier. Wonder if it'll make my dump valve louder too? I'm thinking of getting a Hoffmann sports cat at the same time to get the maximum power, then get it re-mapped but I ha...
