Re: The mystical air con relay 267 or 384 - where is it?

Thanks for the replies. It is a 2001 1.9tdi 130 AWX. In the end I got pee'd off and went to the air con man. He now reckons there is no gas, he tried to fill it and there is a big hole in one of the pipes, so the great relay hunt is postponed. Its a bit weird as the same guy told me there was gas a ...

The mystical air con relay 267 or 384 - where is it?

My air con has stopped working. There is gas in the system. The compressor kicks in if it is given a 12v feed. The electric cooling fan isn't working whether in econ or auto. Thereofre I think its something further up the line which is preventing multiple aspects of the air con from working i.e. fus...

oil level warning and dead climatronic

I've got 2x 1.9 pdi 2001 Passat estates. One manual, one auto. The auto one has developed a grearbox issue (I have a different thread). Now the manual one has picked up a fault :hyst :hyst Driving home from work The climatronic died. I'd also had some intermittent oil level warnings. I've read a thr...

Re: 2001 PD 130 auto juddery gearchange

Hesitation is most likely due to the missing info about engine speed / torque, the TCU would really need to know what the engine is doing before it does anything... Thanks - that sounds like a good suggestion. Do you know where the control unit is? I did find another thread where someone had simila...

Re: 2001 PD 130 auto juddery gearchange

I do not believe that it's the injector fault. I think every tdi Passat I've ever owned (4) has had that fault. I've also had the harness actually begin to noticeably break down, this causes a misfire, which became much worse at higher revs and under load. What I have is a hesitation for the automat...

2001 PD 130 auto juddery gearchange

I have had a problem with my auto Passat for a couple of weeks. For the first couple of mins when cold it is juddering when pulling away and changing from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd etc. Once warm the juddering goes away and it runs normally. if the juddering is quite bad the ESP light comes on, if the ...

Re: lumpy misfire / vibration injector harness?

It turns out that the funny looking cam was the problem. Two of the hydraulic tappets had been worn through completely and had lost their innards into the oil. :0 :0

Re: lumpy misfire / vibration injector harness?

I managed to haggle my local TPS down to about £65 plus VAT. Fitted the harness, but the misfire is still there. Generally all looked ok under the cam cover. One of the lobes might have looked a bit smeary - its hard to tell with the curvature and the presence of oil - but it didn't look to be anyth...

Re: lumpy misfire / vibration injector harness?

I've just called TPS and they want 90 odd quid inc vat for this. They seem to have pretty much doubled in price since last time I had this done.

Has anyone brought one recently?

Re: (Video included) Some thing loose in my gearbox? :/

Is this causing you a big problem? I think my gear stick does this under load. I've not given it a lot of thought, but I'd guess its worn mounts. I doubt the gearbox man is going to be striping and reconditioning much of a gearbox for £240 including vat! That's only 2-4 hours labour without parts. I...

Re: lumpy misfire / vibration injector harness?

Thanks for replies. I think I'll order a new loom. I just don't like playing replacement bingo, fitting random new parts when I'm not 100% sure what the problem is. At least changing the loom will, as minimental has said, allow me to check the camshaft and lifters, which would probably give an indic...

lumpy misfire / vibration injector harness?

Hi. I've got a 1.9tdi with 270k on the clock. Generally runs quite well. Its just come back from MOT and an oil change. I noticed on my next trip to work that it became quite rough above 2000rpm. In fact I think its a bit rough at all revs, but just more noticeable as you push the loud pedal. I don'...

Kenwood head unit resetting each use (DPX 406 DAB)

Hi. I have just installed the above DAB head unit. Each time I turn it on it is asking me the language and if I want to enter "demo mode" I assume that this is not normal. It seems to me that the permanent live is not working. In the installation manual it says that for "some VW's and...

Re: Fitting a DAB aerial to the B5 Wagon, advice needed?

Hi. I did mine at the weekend. I decided to go another route, as I wasn't confident in getting the door seals off and back on again without getting a leak! The stock aerial goes down the passenger side boot pillar, so this is the route I took. You cant use it as a puller to pull through the new wire...

Re: Fitting a DAB aerial to the B5 Wagon, advice needed?

Hi There. I have just joined the forum after finding this old thread. My gamma head unit has been loosing reception for the last few weeks, first AM, now FM is getting a bit fuzzy. I suspect it is probably related to the corroded looking bee sting. I've taken the plunge and ordered a DAB head unit a...
