Re: Has anyone got a B6 Passat thats any good?

I have a 55-plate 140 bhp SE saloon. The engine (touch wood) is bomb proof and has stump pulling torque. Very economical as well 53.5 mpg average on the journey Lestarrrgh to Leeds yesterday afternoon. However, things are now starting to go wrong with it. The passenger door has never really worked p...

Re: Some people need shooting

I presume by toys they mean the floor mat.

Still it was obviously someone's pride and joy.

Does the rear spolier have the F1 DRS (Drag Reduction System) fitted. If so I bet it'll do 170+ mph.

Fault Code Readers on eBay

I'm toying with the idea of getting one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-VAG-Diagnostic-Fault-Code-Reader-CAN-OBD2-/160569938561?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2562b6d281 Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with them at all? Can they read all fault codes in the ECU or are ...

Anyone With Diagnostics in Leicester or Leeds Area?

Following on from my recent thread on the parking brake alarm, does anyone have the diagnostic capabilities they would be able run for me so I can see exactly what fault codes I've got going on? I'm in Leicester (LE8) Saturdays and Sundays and Leeds (LS17) Mondays to Thursdays. I'm pretty broke at t...

How Can I Override Parking Brake Alarm

Hello folks You can imagine my delight when the parking brake alarm starting going off a couple of days ago. I've checked the various fuses associated with the parking brake, disconnected and reconnected the battery and stripped down the switch but this, sadly, has not achieved the desired effect. W...

Re: A new lass to the site....

I think I remember you from VVOC aye, been there a long time :) coming up 7 years this May. Sad really isn't it!? Ha haa - when I joined VVOC Kanjo only had about 100 posts! As sad as I was to see my 2.5 V6 CDX go, I'm really, really pleased with my Passat. It's quicker in 3rd than my Vec was and d...

Rising Fuel Prices

I have an interest in commodities and financial markets. At the moment a barrel of Brent Crude is trading at about $116/$117. Some of my trader colleagues are forecasting nearly $200 ( :(( ) a barrel if the problems in the Middle East don't get any better soon and more and more oil nations are dragg...

Gritters

Spent about 2.5 hours yesterday giving my B6 a semi-detail and, even if I do say so myself, it looked mint for its first good clean of the year. Imagine my delight when driving back to Leeds from Leicester last night to come across gritter after blooming gritter on the M1. I ended up following a few...

Re: beading on windscreen/window glass.

I used some of Halfords own brand water repellant for the first time on mine yesterday. Clean car and and screen in normal way. Make sure the wiper blades are dry as well as the screen before application. Easy to apply. Made the weekly return journey from Leicester to Leeds last night and had 40+ mi...

Re: Windscreen mirror fallen off

Best of luck Matt.

Have mixed results with Halfrauds as well.

Did a grand job fitting a roof box and rails on g/f's Golf then sold me some OZ allies with the wrong offset for a Vx and went all arsey when tried to sort out.

Bizarre!

on the b5.5 that part is held in by a grub screw thats just behind the rubber seal on the door, so i would imagine hte b6 is the same.....it looks like it is!! but if u see a hole with no grub torx thingy in it then it has worked loose and fell into the door trim, so u will need a new one. but if t...

Yeah, just scanned their webshite - looks like they just do the pads but not the sensor(s).

Can they be retrieved from the pad that was on it and incorporated into the new pad?

Help Please Bit Fallen Off Door Handle

Only had my B6 for four days, opened the passenger rear door last night only to have part of it fall off. This is what it looks like now: http://usera.ImageCave.com/liquidator/DSC00131.JPG and these are the bits that I managed to catch http://usera.ImageCave.com/liquidator/DSC00134.JPG and http://us...

Re: dirty rotten b@stards

Makes me sick reading stuff like this.

Thing is they know they can do that kind of thing and get clean away with it.

Even if they get caught by the "5-O" it's no big deal for them.

Can you get it repaired on the insurance?

Wheel Upgrade

Just got myself a 55-plate 2.0TDI SE, presently sitting on the original 16"s with four different tyres on each corner!

What should I be looking for as a popular wheel upgrade?

Going to be doing a lot of motorway driving so would prefer to stick to 17"s.

Thanks fellas.
