Re: Auto TCM
Update. No amount of coding or computer trickery would make the last TCM work. I searched for months to find a s/h one with the right code but no luck, so in the end with nothing to loose I decided to fix the old wet one myself :-o 3 hours of electrosurgery later I had replaced the corroded connecti...

Re: Auto TCM
Based on a 2003 Passat, here are some screenshots of the parts listings for the auto transmission control units. As you will see, 3B0927156S, is for use with the 5 speed auto box when fitted to a car built in Eurpoe, with 2WD and engine code AVF. at1.png at2.png at3.png Cheers for that. So, the TCM...

Re: Auto TCM
Help again please guys. Had the car plugged into Vcds thingy by a good mate. All faults cleared EXCEPT the TCM is said to be incompatible
So can this be "coded" to the car or is the last letter on the module more important than I've been led to believe?

Gears are changing but the dash has lit up like a christmas tree. ABS, AIR BAG, orange triangle one I know not what it means :hyst The PRND432 ar...

Re: diy aux in issues- poor sound quality and very quiet
oh right, do you have a link for the other socket and the dac? thanks The socket linked to in the original post is very small and as such very sensetive to over heating on the soldering front. Basically the plastic casing can melt, esp if you solder like me  Anyway, because I'm a cheap charli...

Re: Car Insurance for PASSAT
I was shocked when I insured my 5.5 it's crazy money. 130 bhp is hardly a power house ! Did all the comparison stuff and got a reasonable deal in the end but still high. Just taken it off the road and put on a Merc SLK and that's much cheaper ??? oh and considerably more powerful ;)

Re: diy aux in issues
When I first did the mod using the same 3.5 socket as the OP it was pretty rubbish.I bought a better quality socket Β£14 better, and hey presto no background noise. Signal is low mind so I use a small DAC and that brings the level up to almost CD volume

Re: A right write off
Yerp it still clunks but not the end of the world. I did do a fluid change and new filter but no change. If it clunks now I just switch it off and on again :hyst Very pleased with the old girl though, as we've just done a 2000 mile round trip to the Alps. 4 up and rammed with luggage, enthusiastical...

Eye, eye. http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv36/daudwpsyn/20170214_132945_zpso6pwh87o.jpg When I get the sensor it detects the voltage rise from the alt and turns on the DRLs , t...

Re: Blacksmoke DIY map ?
Thanks for your concerns chaps. I'm more than happy changing my oil and spannering into the small hours. However I've never read or mapped an ECU lol The nice people at Blacksmoke seem to suggest using their map is fine and dandy, it's just my lack of experience on such things prompted my post here ...
