As per title, mate got a Mk4 Golf he's scrapping and wondered if any parts are worth salvaging and keeping hold of?

Cheers

Re: Anybody had to have a VIC test done on their Passat by D

Thanks for the quick replies and further info! That was the implication from reading through the website, just didn't want to leave the car as is and then fail the test because of a slight crack in the bumper and another £40 to retest. Still waiting for the insurance firm to let the DVLA know...

Anybody had to have a VIC test done on their Passat by DVLA?

As per title, anybody been through the Vehicle Identity Check by the DVLA? Car got a bump on the rear end and put it through the insurance. Ended up being a Cat C, purely due to the cost of a new bumper and colour coding costing more than the car is valued at by the Glass Guide. Anyway, damage to th...

Windscreen Washer Pump on the blink?

My windscreen washers have developed an intermintent fault, sometimes they spray and sometimes they don't. When they don't you can just hear a squeel from the washer res area and get nothing from the front or back jets. So is this the sound of a dying pump or do they usually just pack-up alto...

Re: Advice needed on Remote Wire from Headunit to Amp, SORTE

Big thanks to Adam!! ^:)^ Swapped the yellow and red wires round, no resetting problems! :-bd Put the control wire to the blue wire, permanent live. So ended up plugging this into the red/yellow wire which only comes live with the ignition. Tested everything and put it all back in the dash. S...

Re: Advice needed on Remote Wire from Headunit to Amp, reset

So if the red and yellow are the wrong way round, how come its not resetting at the moment with the blue control wire disconnected and the wires paired up with red/red and yellow/yellow? :-?

Many apologise if a daft question?!

Re: Advice needed on Remote Wire from Headunit to Amp, reset

Cheers for that!! ^:)^

So once I've swapped over the red to yellow, yellow to red, wires on the ISO Connector, which one do I plug my blue amp control wire to? The original yellow? :-??

Will this then stop it resetting and prevent any battary drain problems?

Thanks for the advice!!!

Advice needed on Remote Wire from Headunit to Amp, SORTED!

So a bit stuck and scratching my head at this and hoping someone can help on here. ~x( Been through the search function which has been a big help in getting this far, but now stuck. So, fitted a new Philips head-unit to the B5 Passat, wired up an amp and bass box to the boot, (cheers Ant for the kit...

Re: Fitting a 2gauge sub wiring kit!

Funnily enough, been on with this on my B5 this week mate, and as per previous posts took some advice and box is the easiest way. Take the lid off and take the inside trim off and you should be able to see day light through from inside the car. Then either drill a hole in the plastic casing or I jus...

Hello mate, a company called Autobrite Direct do a special Alcantara Cleaning Spray which doesn't cost the earth, if you fancied giving that a try.

Alcantara looks great but is a pain to clean and keep bobble free.

Had a set of PI shocks on my Corrado, one of the front springs actually snapped and wedged itself together. Not sure how old they were, as on the car when I bought it, but not something you expect. Re: how to snow foam

Snow foam is different mate, the foam breaks down the cack on the car and makes it easier to wash off, saves alot of elbow grease. Need a decent make to do the job properly, as the cheap stuff just slides straight off, where as you need it to stay on the car awhile to do its work. Then just jet wash...

Re: Retrimming headlining

Use some high-temp glue mate for the headlining, did mine a few years ago and had no problems. Does take a bit of patience to do it right and need plenty of space for a wagon headlining. Got a £12 pot from a classic car upholsterer at an autojumble which did the whole interior. Went through the var...

Yep, detailing world would be better for info mate and probably a 'how to', there is also a company that does day-training courses on wet-sanding, so you can bodge someone elses before attempting your own. :-bd

Re: Wagon Window Tint Prices.

Thought about the clip-in window screens mate?

Cheaper and with a similar result for kids in the back, also gives you the option of taking them out if needed. Got a set specifically for my wagon and been great for sunny days and providing a bit of privacy for stuff in the boot.

Re: how to snow foam

Yes mate, any pressure washer will do, as long as its got the right end-fitting for the Karcher attachment. You can go on Detailing World and end up spending hours going through endless posts about the 'right' pressure washer, right settings, mix, different cocktails of snow foams, blah, blah, blah....

Always been tempted by VRS Estate TDI, kid in the local club has done a few mods to his and it looks alot meaner while still being practical, roomy and some shove when you haven't got kids in the back.

What about a T4 or T5?

Hello mate, you just need to prise off the locking clip with a screwdriver, should just be able to see it towards the back of the cylinder, metal U shape clip. Just flicks up and it will release the barrel and just pull out. :-bd

Re: Battery cover?

Did this on my B5 mate and fairly simple to fit, the How-To is still pretty helpfull without pics. Once you have the plastic strip its just a matter of trimming with a decent hacksaw to fit snug and get the bonnet to close without catching at the ends. But just have to remember that the plastic batt...
