Bike carriers will fit any roof bars, the clamps on the bike carriers move to suit the distance between your roof bars. So Thule if you've got the cash or Halfrauds if you want cheap and cheerfull.
Unless as above your bike is worth more than the car its sat on.
Cheers!

Re: Fitting Roof Bars to Carry a Mountain Bike
Got an estate with the roof rails, so just needed the cross pieces off of ebay for my bike racks on Passat.
Presume saloon is like most models, had a full set on my previous Corrado, so you will need the cross pieces and also the clamps. These fit around the top of the door frame and back door ...

Fitting Roof Bars to Carry a Mountain Bike
Hey guys
I've never owned a roof rack or bars before and rather than put a dirty bike in the car i'm considering getting roof bars to carry the bike instead.
Can those that own bars or go biking as well tell me how do the bars fit to a saloon? What do you clamp them to? I've no idea if i need ...

Re: b5 tdi temperature gauge fault
Thought mine was faulty too as it never seemed to move, but today i noticed it had moved a quater of the way up.
If this works intermittently, i guess its definately faulty, but how long should it take to move on one that works without problem?

Thanks guys. I thought this was something that could be looked at with VAG.com, but as its just a case of remembering to stick the key in i'll stick with it.
No worries, i've just got to get the other things sorted now.

Cheers both! I do think i'll need a new sensor looking at the bit that's left but i'll try amd photograph it.
Does anyone know, re my other questions above? (temp gauge and alarm?) Reading other threads, the temp could be the sender which seems quite common but is the alarm normal?
cheers!

Another question - is the alarm supposed to re-lock itself approx 30 secs after you unlock the car? mine does if you open or close the door and you don't put the key and turn it in the ignition.......

Thanks for the advice so far guys.
Brakes - I know the sensor has come off as its currently in the central glove box. I'm sure the wires can be spliced back together, but i'm not one for bodging a job. I'm quite hands on with mechanical stuff, but no idea re the brakes. The sensor has come off the ...

Thanks for all the replies guys. Really good info as ever.
I'm happy to say i'm going to look at a PD 130 Tdi sport on the weekend, so fingers crossed it turns out to be a really good example. Just got to carry on reading up on the things to check when i'm there.
Cheers!

Re: TDi Mileage
What's the service interval on the 1.9 TDI 130 PD engine?
I've found a car i really like, but its not had a service since the cambelt was done at 112k, (now approx 131k). The owner was willing to drop the price a little, but not enough for me when i'd have to spend a further

Re: TDi Mileage
I've seen cars at 100k to 150k, so its good to know a car with higher mileage can be as reliable as one with 50k less!
Not having a lot of luck with the search so far, but i'll keep at it! Really need a car now.
Cheers.

Guys
Quick question - If a B5, B5.5 has 120k-170k is it still good for that mileage again?
All the cars i'm looking at have over 100k, but is a car with 150k going to cause any more/other problems than a car with 100k? Obviously you look for the usual service history etc, but those of you with ...
