Re: Need some advice
I am gonna be keeping the car for a while, jus whats the benefit of having uprated ones? surely the cheapo gsf ones will do the trick? I mean are they better for ride? last longer?
Well the website claims they're longer lasting and they have HD (Heavy Duty) in the name but I've not used them ...

Re: Need some advice
You got any links to these after market kits?
The uprated ones are made by 'Meyle', they're quite a bit more expensive but have a 4 year warranty. They also sell the individual links, although as I said in my first post, when one goes the others may not be far behind:

Re: Need some advice
Sounds exactly like the sound I had when the control links went on my Audi A4 B5 and since it's exactly the same chassis, there's a good chance it's the same thing. Is it a dry-metallic creaking? I was advised to do both sides and replace all the links, not just the suspect ones as they'd all ...

If you release the lever on the underside of the column, as if you were going to adjust the steering wheel height, then it's there hiding underneath it, normally covered by the lever in the close position.

Re: Fixed groaning steering - but what did I do?
I called in at the local dealers this morning to ask them what this bolt was for. They were clueless but did take the time to look the steering column components up on the parts system. Best they could tell, it clamps the steering column switches around the steering column. They reckoned it would be ...

Fixed groaning steering - but what did I do?
My steering on my Passat has been driving me potty since I got it, anytime I turned the wheel I got a groaning from the column, especially at low speed. I tried squirting some Silicone Spray on the steering wheel boss which would help a little for a few miles then it would return.
This morning I ...

Re: 4 motion suspension
I have an '03 130TDi SE 4 motion which has the factory sport suspension (1BZ), seats and alloys (16" Road Americas) and I'm convinced the handling is dodgy. I put it into a garage that is known to be very picky (nothing escapes from their MOT test without advisories!) and they couldn't find anything ...

Yeah, French cars seem to go for stalks, or cleverly hidden controls embedded in the steering column (in the case of her-indoors Megane)

On my 2002 Audi A4 they were on permanently and I used VAG-COM to switch them off
Check the ross-tech website for the code although I think it's unlikely to work on a B5, a B5.5 maybe.

Hi, I have a 2.8 V6 4motion and fitted Eibach springs which certainly improve the handling and reduce the body roll. They are a bit too firm for me on the poor quality roads we have up here in the NE of Scotland but are probably what you're looking for.

Stiffer suspension on an SE 4motion?
Just bought and collect a 2003 TDi 130 SE 4motion and I find the suspension really soggy. I've had a couple of A4 Quattros in the past and both had the sport pack including stiffer suspension.
