Re: clock spring / squib

The part number is the one that counts. I think the others would be for manufacturing traceability.

Re: Cat rattling

Yes it is, remove it and break the catalyst out. Not required for diesels anyway.

Re: Can't clear P1855 DTC from ECU

As it states this can appear by disconnecting your battery or if the battery runs low, it is a software glitch.

Re: Car stalls when driving

Almost 100% is the crank angle sensor. Oil pressure will crop up on repeated start attempts, the oil pump is fine.

A split pipe to the actuator can cause overboost as well.

£100 and some DIY would have it up and running again.

Re: Fuel Gauge...

I ran out of fuel once despite the trip computer saying I had enough for 120 miles left, changed the sender, no more problems. The sender clips onto the side of the fuel pump if I remember correctly. I got the sender off eBay for less than £20.

Re: 'Slow' throttle AWX 5-speed manual

Ooh, stalling, my best guess, the infamous crank angle sensor starting to fail. Sent from my ANE-LX1 using Tapatalk It's sluggish throttle related stalling.. doesn't do it any other time.. could it still be crank sensor? 93/93 I had problems with stalling on a 1.8t, it would also momentarily drop o...

Re: handbrake

Partially seized caliper or the handbrake button itself. Check the rubber seals on the caliper, any splits apparent and it will be the caliper.

Re: Why didn't my alarm go off?

You could use a Bluetooth adapter, less than £5 and an app such as Torque Pro again just a few quid, there's a free Torque Lite app that will read fault codes for free.

Re: Why didn't my alarm go off?

It depends on what's wrong it may be as simple as a broken wire.
If you could scan for fault codes that would help point you in the right direction.

Passenger side footwell below the carpet. Check for bad splices, bad earth's. Pollen filter is usually the culprit for letting water in.

Re: Why didn't my alarm go off?

I have no idea, Passats are famous for water ingress to the comfort control unit, hopefully it's not that though. Might be an idea to check the writing to the drivers door as that is how the alarm would be set when you lock it. Does it show the drivers door open on the instrument cluster? Sent from ...
