Re: B4 Roof Rails`
I think they might be for a B3 Passat, I'm sure their roof bars didn't come all the way to the front. Then again they might be for a Golf estate and the seller has just assumed they are all the same.

You can have my Haynes manual if you need one, I'm guessing Mark won't need it. The wiper definitely parks across the bottom of the window. My stereo is permanently live, though it's non original too and the three Polos I've owned were the same. If you lock the car and hold the key in the lock posit...

Inveralmond. Get everything you need in one go because it always seems to cost me £15 regardless of how much stuff I have. Having said that, plastic trim should be cheap. The guy with the beard that runs the scrappy is also cheaper than the old guy with the bunnet. Last time I was there was only a ...

Hello! Another Passat owner from Perth on here just when I'm in the process of selling mine :( The wiring might have got chewed up where it passes into the tailgate. This used to happen on the Polo and would explain the demister and wiper both not working. Have to admit I don't really know how to ch...

I've maybe been a bit harsh :( To summarize a bit I'm selling car Exhaust middle section (silencer and bendy bit pipe) NEW Both tr...

Car in For Sale section
A bit of a novel there about my Passat. I'm going to my mum's tomorrow to get my stereo and take some pictures. Also have new exhaust middle section in the shed which I forgot to list in ad.

Never mind all that expensive tat, the car I had most fun in was my C reg Polo Coupe S bought for £750-actually that's quite a lot for me to spend on a car. Bog standard, but it handled like a go kart, even better than the Minis I used to drive. It went to pastures new when my son was born and his ...

It's all rover!!!
I know this seems to be a recurring theme, but I've bought a new car and...er...it's not a VW. At least I got over my FX4 fetish (nice motors from a distance, abused rust buckets with horrible interiors close up) and bought a Rover 25 2.0 turbo diesel. It's a bloody flyin' machine  , but I do...

Front Wheel Bearings
What sort of a job is it? I've looked it up in the Haynes manual and all I can say is...bloody hell!! In my experience Haynes can lay it on a bit thick with the amount of dismantling required How hard is it to get the old ones out and the new ones in?

The switch is there already-it's the headlamp switch. You pull it out one click for front and two for rear. I bought the fogs off ebay too and when I went to fit them, the wiring connectors were there in the bumper just ready to plug and go 8) but be careful I bent the pins on the back of the lights...

NO! Talk me out of it. I drive like an old man so I'd probably keep the diesel engine. Bit worried what sort of mileage I'd get, the officail figures are 30-35mpg if I remember but that's what I get driving my unladen Passat round the town and an FX4 is one big hulk of a car. All the taxis I see adv...

I'm going to do something stupid-talk me out of it
I had an idae a few years ago to buy an old FX4 taxi and use it as an every day car. Recently, I saw one driving round Perth and I want one 8) , but common sense (no really) tells me otherwise. The thing is I really really want one  TALK ME OUT OF IT!! Remind me it's a fifties BMC rust wagon ...

Bunch of tubes (or hoses)
My car has recently been using a bit of water, nothing extreme but enough to make me suspect a leak. Yesterday I noticed (for the first time) a drip coming off the front crossmember behind the bumper. I know that the radiator is a bit rank, but the flexible hoses look pretty well done aswell. The la...
