Has anyone had or worked on both?
If so, do the looms use different connectors etc for sensors and ancilleries? Weighing up between converting my AEB to run APU ECU or going stand alone.

Re: VW - Audi drivetrain differences.......
Engine is built to provide a reliable 450 bhp, no skimping on build or parts (less or more depending on turbo selection, currently has a GT28RS hybrid bolted to it). that much power seems like a waste in FWD even with the power leeched by the 4WD system. Still looking into alternatives atm, syncro's...

Re: VW - Audi drivetrain differences.......
ok VW and AUdi gearbox are the same. Ratios differ from engine to engine Audi exccept of S, RS and sports they all had 5 speed gearbox in the quattro/syncro/4 motion set up just like the passat. I am lead to believe later passats b5.5 went to 6 speed seom especially the TDi ones. If that is true I ...

I had considered that, but could live with the ratio's and wait for an Audi Q 1.8t 'box to turn up for sale..?

Re: VW - Audi drivetrain differences.......
Good to know.
So in theory, pick up the right V6 syncro and you could fit a 1.8t into it?

VW - Audi drivetrain differences.......
Hello folks
Couple of engine and drivetrain Q's -
Is the Passat Syncro and the Audi quattro the same beast? (albeit renamed)
Differences in the 4 pot and V6 bellhousings?
Cheers

Just wanted to double check this with someone.... My sister drove through some flood water and now her remote C/L doesnt work although it does on the key! Also climate has packed in (showing a code and flickering lights on the display) and so have the windows. Comfort module failure? No corroded wir...

The "sensible" purchase
Had her for two weeks now, am loving it in every way except the fuel consumption  which has improved with using V power instead of regular unleaded - enough so to justify the extra £3 per tank full. I am learning to appreciate the sound of the burble rather than the roar  She's a '99 V6...

Just thought of this after seeing it on another forum a long while back (and can't find it). Are there any extra/secret functions in the B5 clocks?

Re: PINSTRIPING...*Custom Designs*..pics here
I was just thinking about something like this as I want to break up the monotony of the colour on the saloon a bit and was even considering a change of colour on the roof. Would love to see some passats with this done. 8)

Great bit of info there
Will just keep looking through manufacturers listings until something comes up I guess. The new wheels are arriving tomorrow so will know then exactly what drop I need.

My passat is a flasher!!!
One of the neighbours popped over to me as I was parking the car to let me know that when he was loading the van and slamming the doors shut it seemed to make the passats hazards come on. No noise, just the flashing. Popped outside to indulge my dirty habit (smoking before anyone assumes anything mo...

Re: Oil Light On Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had an odd encounter with mine too over the past couple of days. Oil light flashed on a couple of times along with the beeper after a bit of energetic A road driving so I put it down to oil surge (I had a 16v mk2 golf that used to do it occasionally). It happened again this evening and being in the ...

I like the idea of gold A8's on a dark blue car but would rather see it simulated first........anyone fancy doing a p'chop of it?

Re: Synchro's and ride height
cheers for the info, have looked at online suppliers listing and maybe coilovers are a better bet. How is the wheelbase different? Is the synchro on a different chassis? I guess from the issues I am unexpectedly having housing wheels that fitted just fine on my old FWD passat that the track is a few...

Re: My B5 now with 18s!
It reads like a colour code.....
Not finding anything under that code after looking through the charts, the 9 should be a letter I think.
I keep looking at Alun's p'chop, I can see some A8's in the near future(hopefully)

Synchro's and ride height
Having looked through some of B5's in the members rides section and reading what people have used to lower their cars, I'd like to know - is the V6 Synchro ride height higher than the FWD stuff as std? Budget kinda rules out coilovers and TBH I would like to go with a set of fairly comfortable lower...

Lovin' A8's on the B5 be they light or dark coloured ones. Are they 8x18" ET35? Any clearance/rubbing/scrubbing issues with a 40mm drop?

Nice one Techie :D Pulled the battery out yesterday and cleared the channels which actually weren't blocked too badly - the area under the battery was bone dry. The pollen filter was a different kettle of fish - the rubber seal was split and the sponge sealed totally useless and half falling into th...

Re: Plenum drains blocked - a helpfull guide.
Mine indeed does smell of socks!  However the scuttle (plenum is a new name to me  ) seems pretty clear. Also, the moisture seems concentrated on the passenger floor and under the seat. No moisture in the slope of the footwell. Is this likely to be the same problem or could it b...
