Consumption after 'factory reset'

Hi, my 2.0 tdi 140 DSG Passat had a starting problem which was eventually traced to a faulty battery. However in the diagnosis the ind elect engineer said he had to 'reset' the car to factory settings. I thought nothing of this but have now noticed that my consumption has gone down on the same long ...

Non starting issue

Just for other members benefit I was experiencing the totally dead sound when key pushed in. Had started an hour before with extra pressure on brake (dsg) therefore thought sensor in brake or key slot.
RAC found no codes and hot wired starter to get going. On way to autoelectrian 'stop-start' worked ...

Re: HELP! Issue after belt change

Thanks for all contributions- issue was as suggested that the timing was slightly out. This was a result of not using a crankshaft locking tool and just relying on paint/eye method. Tool was £17 from Dingbro for anyone else attempting this on a homer basis!

Engine oil and DSG oil changed with new ...

HELP! Issue after belt change

After an oil change/ Dsg oil change/ fuel filter change and timing belt (water pump) replacement I now have the following issue. The car cuts out and has difficulty starting - shows glow plug pre heating symbol flashing and battery lights.

Mechanic thinks it may be due it being 'half a tooth out ...

Timing belt replacement 140bhp advice please

Hi, loving my 96k B7 140- to be on the safe side getting timing belt and water pump replaced with annual service by my friend who is an experienced mechanic (but never worked for a vw franchise). My query is when I phoned round some of the independent vw garages one said the 'tensioning of the bolts ...

Re: Picked up new car- 1st impressions

Thanks for your comments guys. Loving the DSG (as long as it doesn't cost me too much!) main dealer quoted £179 for DSG oil change- I know it's a rip off but the videos on YouTube make it look quite an exact science- perhaps best left to the 'experts' - what you boys think?

Picked up new car- 1st impressions

Picked up new (to me!) B7 2.0 DSG 140bhp 2011 with 95k on the clock on Saturday. Car drives really well and has a real feeling of luxury- switches, doors etc. engine pulls beautifully at all speeds and my 260 mile trip home averaged 56mpg.

Car has been serviced by an approved VW dealership but I ...

Re: B7 140bhp DSG good buy?

Many thanks boys for all the comments. Really looking forward to getting one (although the delivery date of the replacement Passat has so far been delayed four weeks- no doubt due to the recent scandal).

As this has been a main dealer serviced (long life) car it should have had the gearbox oil ...

B7 140bhp DSG good buy?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and could do with some advice. A friend has the above company car which has done 95k 'motorway' miles.(12 plate). He has the chance to purchase on receipt of his new one. I'm keen to buy his old one but as my annual mileage will be around 6k ( my idea being it will even ...
