Re: Timing advice please?

Thanks for your advice. Do you know which kit is the correct one and where I can get one for a reasonable price? With that many engine codes its so Confusing.

German engi eering is great but they do like to make wear and tear parts the most difficult to change!

I really like that skoda! Are they fairly new? My budget at the min is looking about 6000 Max My choices appear to be pretty limited! Mazda 5 looks OK ish bit biring though. Tempted to just go for the mitsubishi but im a bit concernes about the mpg. Wonder how it would compare to the likes of a galaxy

7 seater opinions

Hello ukpassats My b5 is gradually falling to pieces and it think it may be nearing the time for her to go to the scrap man. My girlfriend is pregnant and when the sprog is here we will quite often need atleast 6 seats. I want something reasonably economical. So far my main options are the smax or a...

Re: Help door mechanism broken inside and out

Thanks for the advice regarding the lock barrel I'll make sure I don't do that!

As for the wd40 I have read similar comments before. I have some duck oil somewhere I'll have to dig it out think u may have some chain lubricant somewhere also, sure that would do the trick

Re: Help door mechanism broken inside and out

Thanks for the advice, I have tried this a few times with no success but thought I'd give it another go. Gave the lock barrel area a whack with my palm tried the handle, no joy. Tightened the cable in the handle slightly by moving the lug gave it another whack and hey presto! Door open! Atleast I do...

Re: Help door mechanism broken inside and out

I get you now I thought you were referring to the outer door skin rather than the door card. I'll give it a go once uve ordered a new lock.

Cheers

Re: Help door mechanism broken inside and out

Are you referring to the outer door skin?

I was looking at that but how do I get atbthr bolts nearly St to the door hinge?

Are there any steps I need to take when unplugging the airbag connector under the seat?

Re: Help door mechanism broken inside and out

No I was hoping it was that simple! I actually managed to get the lug out completely and pull it with pliers but no joy. I've tried setting it in various positions and this didn't work either

Re: Help door mechanism broken inside and out

Yes it's the drivers door and nothing has been touched for good 6 months or so. The cable to the inner handle has definitely snapped, when this happened I started reaching out and using the outside handle. The next time I went to get in the outside handle made a bit of a click and did nothing at all...

Re: Help door mechanism broken inside and out

Whilst that may be the more fun option it doesn't look the best when leaving work tomorrow! I've tried the coat hanger trick with no joy, the cable to the outside handle appears to be attached still but does nothing. I can see it moving the mechanism if I move the window glass slightly. Any ideas ho...

Re: Help door mechanism broken inside and out

I agree but it's a nightmare getting out the passenger side every 5 mins!

But even when I do get home how the hell do I open the door to get the card off?!

Help door mechanism broken inside and out

Hi does anyone know how I can get the door open of my Passat. The inner cable has broken and so has the one to the outside handle so I can getbthe door card off. I managed to prize the door card off at the top and pull the broken cable with pliers but the door still wouldn't open. I've seen the vide...

Re: 1.9 tdi afn down on power?

I went for the pierburg maf a few months a go and so far so good! I got mine from a site called mister auto a lot cheaper than anywhere else. It was 54 pound with free delivery, the part number is 7.22684.08.0. They told me it didn't fit my vehicle but forum members confirmed it was correct. I wante...

Re: 1.9 tdi afn down on power?

Different vehicle but my old Mondeo used to hit limp mode on startup when I had sticking vanes, it had an electronic actuator and if I turned the ignition off and then turned it one click on I could hear the actuator trying to move, I had to push on the arm to free it off and I could then start her ...

Re: Strange results

It's funny you say that I did all my logs on the way to the shop when going to pickup bread or sumthin like that saves having to explain/convince them on why you need to do it! The day I cleaned the vanes I took half a day off work as my girlfriend was going for a scan so I had to mind the kids I ju...

Re: Strange results

Apologies didn't realise anyone had replied I just edited my last post, after reading over what I said in the previous post I realised I was being stupid! Atmospheric pressure should be subtracted from both. The Mr muscle has resolved my issue, I couldn't rev above 3000 rpm in 3rd a few days ago hit...

Re: Strange results

Hi all
I've just give the turbo a Mr muscle clean and give the manifold and egr a quick clean.

Took it for a quick blast locally with the vagcom on and spec and actual are bang on other than an initial spike, Mr muscle saves the day again!

Re: Strange results

I agree with it being a temporary fix, my old Mondeo had sticking vanes and I ended up having to use Mr muscle every few months. I suppose if I give the Mr muscle a go and the symptoms seem to be resolved or improved it's a good indication that sticking vanes where my issue and I can strip it down a...
