The gearbox code is LQV
edit: is it worth trying gearbox re-adaptation with VCDS first at all?

DSG CR Passat DMF compatible part numbers
I'm getting rattle noise at cold start or driving at very low revs (11-1200 rpm) from my 150k 59 reg CR 2.0TDI (CBAB) DSG passat so most likely thats the DMF gone. DSG is still very smooth. All I need is to source the correct part - new or little used. The real question is what part numbers to use -...

Re: How much oil does your B6 burn?
I wouldn't keep it personally. Later 1.9s are very problematic particualry if wrong oil was used. Then you get conrod escaping through the block.
0.5L / 10k miles of oil top up is reasonable - anything significantly greater would ring alarm bells.

Wiper scratches on fancy windscreen
I bought a nice new 59 plate Passat to replace mine and the worst problem appears to be the front windscreen. The windscreen has rather wide wiper scratch marks that are not very deep but still very annoying. The car has almost every option ticked so we have almost auto everything including rear vie...

You didn't specify the issue and circumstances, but when there are errors flagged up it is most probably cambelt or rollers about to fail / failed. This is what I'd investigate immediately.

Re: Wheel / tyre setup
All I can add is Winter tyres on the rear make it much more controllable and stable, particularly in the rain. 17" is OK, wouldn't go for any bigger. 205/55/16" is much more common size, much broader tyre choice and much easier to get good 2nd hand (6mm+) ones dirt cheap if you do ridiculo...

Re: Cam belt change,what mileage/time?
Every 4 years even if it is a CR engine. There is a mileage limit too.
Yours should have 2nd replacement RIGHT NOW.
You might get lucky and will see a an engine error when sensors detect first signs of slippage. Or it might just go. Better safe than sorry.

Shock absorber dilema
The front shocks may need replacement. I'm pretty much looking for reliable OE type shock that will sustain potholes and have decent handling but won't compromise on smooth ride quality . I don't want the car to feel like a cheap crashy Octavia. What would be the best compromise? Sachs, Bilstein B4,...

Re: Passat b6 with poor/slow starting and other faults, HELP
You can check the fuses easily all round.
Even if glow plugs are not the main problem still do change them. I don't think they will leave a warning light; that certainly didn't cause one on our other 2 VAGs.
What does diagnostic scan look like?
Any chance the car had been flooded?

Re: DSG compatibility pass at b6 2010
You can also force DSG re-learning with VCDS or VAS. It certainly improved the behaviour of mine. Is that the same as the reset mentioned by RichardSEL? Mine's never been quite as I'd like it! I did this http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/6-Speed_Direct_Shift_Gearbox_(DSG/02E) But probably ch...

Re: DSG compatibility pass at b6 2010
Just make sure you change your oil every 40k miles or else it will fail indeed. I'd check it's been done as some VW centres tend not to do that unless specifically asked. I know mine has been mistreated by one and the previous owner. You can also force DSG re-learning with VCDS or VAS. It certainly ...

Mine is Alu so hopefully a 10 min job.
If you take the manifold off the tricky part is the removal of fuel lines? Diesel leak could be very nasty in many ways.

Re: P2015 V157 error - UK repair bracket?
I've just placed my order so in the next week hopefully we will find out all about it. My car is late 2008 (58) common rail 2.0 TDI if that makes any difference. If bracket doesn't fit I probably will consider remapping off that error code and the whole EGR as a cheaper fix. I really don't want to m...

P2015 V157 error - UK repair bracket?
I now have a permanent V157 error on my 2.0 TDI CR CBAB Passat. And it seems to hit my fuel economy some 20% so I'd better have this fixed. EGR was just cleaned and the actual intake flap replaced (from scrap). I found a fix available in the US http://www.dieselgeek.com/VW_P2015_repair_kit_s/1902.ht...

an alternative tweak is hill hold assist. Many newer cars came with it - are you sure yours doesn't? If not it can be activated via VCDS I believe.

Re: Radio / infotainment cut out issue
Is it an original stereo or an aftermarket unit? All original RCD 310 unit is in place. Here is the scan from today (I was checking all fuses and playing with lights so a few errors were caused by that). The engine flap error does concern me. I got it erased and its not back yet. My mate looked at ...

Radio / infotainment cut out issue
Recently the car started having major issues with the radio and anything related to it (i.e. parking sensor display) not working. It may come back on for a few seconds, work poorly and then cut out again. The car has been in a garage for a while getting some bits replaced, including one of those fan...

I currently have Philips Xtreme bulbs in. It is still unusable.
I need something done to headlight lenses or replace them altogether with something more respectable. I just have no idea what exactly.
