Thanks Mitch, I hadn't seen the 'wanted' section.
I guess it's probably the light sensor cover; it's in two halves and entirely surrounds the back of the mirror.
I'm fairly sure there were two screws in there when I removed the old pieces (a long time ago...).
Rick.

B6 auto-dip interior mirror surround wanted
Hi All,
am in need of the two halves which clip together (and are then held by two screws) around the auto-dipping rear-view interior mirror.
If anyone is breaking a B6, please drop me a line - have looked on Ebay but can't find any. Not bothered about colour, but must be undamaged.
Cheers,
Rick.

Timing chain service life / replacement. 2.0 TFSI Sport Auto
Hello All, Am seeking some clarification of the correct life expectancy of the cam timing chain on a B6 2.0 TFSI Sport (200hp). Engine code is CAW. Have looked through the service schedule handbook, but there's no mention of a chain, it just refers to 'change timing belt on 2.0 TFSI engine at 120,00...

Re: Auto box driveshaft removal
Yep, I think you're right about the removal method. The guy who was doing the job wondered if there was a specific VW tool to withdraw them, but the only thing I could imagine would be something along the lines of a 4 piece slide hammer, with the 'block' and 'hammer' as 2 'c' shaped pieces that bolt...

Re: Auto box driveshaft removal
Yep, she's a B6 (2008)- very rare engine/trim/box combo (she's a Sport model). Have seen the replacement part, and like you say, it's a retaining clip (though more substantial than a wire circlip) which presumably is meant to compress when the shaft is pulled to allow the assembly out of the gearbox...

Auto box driveshaft removal
Hello All, does anyone have experience of changing/removing driveshafts from an auto gearbox (not DSG) mated to the 2.0 petrol turbo engine? Car is currently at a VW specialist to have the shaft's bearing/joint changed (can't get a complete driveshaft for this model). Just got a phone call saying he...

Re: Auto-dip interior mirror failure
All I can say is that it came with a 30-day guarantee.
I didn't know there was a light sensor on the rear - thought it was on the front, so thank you for that. Will test it again now that you've brought that up.
Thanks for the reply and advice - much appreciated.
Rick.

Auto-dip interior mirror failure
Hi Everyone.
the auto-dip interior mirror isn't dipping at night. Priced up a new one (!!!) and then bought a used/guaranteed one instead.
Fitted it this morning and did a test with flashlight, but still no joy.
Any ideas (other than I now have 2 duff mirrors)?

Re: '07' 2.0 FSI - grumbly engine/transmission??
Hi Alan,
thanks for the reply. Tbh, I did wonder about this (yes, it is fitted with a dmf).
Bit of a downer if it is that at 47k - horribly expensive to replace

'07' 2.0 FSI - grumbly engine/transmission??
Hi Everyone, I have a 2.0 fsi, with only 47k on the clock. I have an 'issue' with the car, but can't identify whether it's a fault, or 'they all do that, mate'. So, any sensible replies/answers would be welcome. Since I bought the car, each time I put her into gear and move off, what I can only desc...
