Re: B4 rear window winder

Just to complete this, I have now soorted out the front right winder. It turned out to be a poor connection to the motor rather than a fault with the motor itself or the regulator. A squirt with contact cleaner into the connector block was all that was necessary. So now, for the first time in ages, ...

Re: B4 rear window winder

Prise off the top of the inside armrest/doorhandle, fiddle it past the release handle and disconnect the speaker and the winder switch. Be careful not to break the speaker connections. Undo two screws inside the armrest (long screwdriver, crosshead). Undo 6 small screws around the edge of the door l...

Re: B3 Headlamp Adjusters

Sorry to butt in here,,,,

If the motors are still available, and they are compatible with B4 headlight units, then please let me know what you want for 1 of them (would consider both if the price is right). I have all the wiring etc but one of the motors has gone u/s.

Best wishes

Gearbox with ABF engine

The gearbox on my 16v ABF engined B4 has a gearbox type CTM. Is a CDA gearbox from a Golf GTi Mk3 16v compatible? In fact, the ratios in the existing box are horrible- very low 1, 2 and 3, then a HUGE gap to 4 and 5. Maybe the Golf gearbox has a better, closer 3,4 and 5. Does anyone know if it will ...

Re: B4 rear window winder

Fixed !! It turned out to be exactly as mk2passat said, a broken earthwire in the rubber boot near to the frame, so many thanks for the response. Just to be thorough, I stripped the whole thing down and regreased the regulator mechanisms on both rear doors (whilst I was replacing the door cards with...

Re: Instrumentation Weirdness

The only time I ever took out an instrument system was on a Mk 2 Golf, and there is a voltage regulator diode in there which can give problems. Maybe it's the same on a Passat.
On the other hand...........

Re: Spare plug?

I think you have guessed right first time; some markets (mine included, supplied in Germany) have electrically-adjustable headlights. The motor fits into the headlight unit instead of the white plastic blanking plate. Like so many electrical parts on these cars, they are, in my experience, unreliabl...

Re: rear lecy windows

This may sound a bit "off", but are you sure you haven't pressed the isolator button on the dashboard switch?

B4 rear window winder

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum although I have been asking questions recently about my B4 estate 16V GT (German model, LHD), via the Corrado forum. Incidentally, thanks to Matt for showing me the way to this place. The rear left window winder packed up a few years ago and I decided to live w...
