Re: B5.5 Boring and on a Budget!
Found the charging wire, hopefully tomorrow I’m going to check the temp sensor at cold. Then take the drive belt off. I can’t remember but is the ac belt separate to the auxiliary belt? May as well check the alternator pulley. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk AC belt should be a separate belt,

Re: B5.5 Boring and on a Budget!
Oh yes I remember reading about premature camshaft wear, now you mentioned that I also remember people can have issues with the wiring loom that runs at the top of the engine. The only thing that leads me to think it’s something to do with power steering is because the steering wheel has some vibra...

What about badly famous PD camshaft knuckle wear? Just guessing without knowing history of car, but I know it's quite possible.

Re: Minimentals:- Jeep Cherokee XJ 2.5D Manual
Looking good. Always loved looking at custom work done on cars. What sort of power approximately you will be getting out of this setup and what it had up to now? And next we want some off-road video with wheels halfway in mud and engine fighting it's way through the mud.

Hi Ray 112 Thank you for informing, puts my thinking more at ease. Now to find it back at around 30£! L Be patient and keep eyes open. Sometimes they do discounts, sometimes eBay giving discount vouchers on selected seller, but mannol oil usually is covered under that from seller I'm getting it fro...

Re: Temp gauge goes down???
If engine is up to temperature, thermostat most likely is partly open, at sudden RPM increase coolant is getting pushed through system a lot faster, so a lot more cold coolant is getting pushed in engine. Thermostat don't close that quickly and that's why temperature drops, once thermostat reduce co...

That's quite shocking that there are no replacement parts available for car less than 20 years old, neither OEM, neither aftermarket. But good luck sorting out your car.

Hiya I am also seeking views/thoughts on a Mannol 504/507 oil (Post titled Lube) as here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mannol-5w-30-Fully-Synthetic-Engine/dp/B0776CW671 Higher spec and meets VW requirements apparently...... Re: Wheres the Starter Motor relay fuse?
Before you remove every power supply cable on car, have you actually tried to dislocate starter motor power supply from touching anything else, get battery connected and see if you get 12v at starter motor when using multimeter or simple test bulb? Maybe there's nothing wrong and you are just panick...

Oh right thanks. Would you know about my Slave Cylinder question earlier on in this thread? Cheers That external dust boot definitely looks tired, not sure if that piston supposed to come out from rest of clutch cylinder or not, but I would replace it, just to be sure you don't have any leak issues...

Would get Sachs or LUK but if you know anywhere cheaper under £300 then grateful for advise. Cheers. LuK kit £140. As ever, check with the seller before you order, to make certain it is the right one for your car. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234618455202?hash=item36a05984a2:g:u5MAAOSwM4diygZj&am...

Re: Timing belt kits and water pumps to avoid
I would stay away from circoli pumps. Bearing failed at 25k miles on one some years ago. Luckily that it's drive belt operated on AFN engine, otherwise it would be a split timing belt with all the happiness that usually follow. Of course had the same brand pump used two previous times and there wasn...

Re: Head gasket dilemma
I would say it's a head gasket. I had excessive pressure in cooling system for over 4 years and then it started to get cold air from heater etc. Never lost any coolant, just really bad pressure and then airlocks. Hoses were still partly pressurised in next morning after driving and been left overnig...

Re: Intermittent power 'dip' on motorway
So, when driving my B7 on the motorway at 70, I sometimes notice a feeling that I can only describe like as if there is suddenly more resistance against the car. The speed doesn't drop, and if I have to adjust the accelerator position, I don't notice it. It will then, after a few seconds suddenly f...

Re: Turbo recommendations
Unless it's poorly serviced there shouldn't be any issues with turbo. And turbos do whine especially when cold. Of course it's hard to tell what's normal and what's not. Need to hear it. But at 100k stock engine shouldn't have any problems with turbo. Maybe you car already is remapped by previous ow...
