Re: Remap advice
These engines can easy go over 500k miles with no big problems if well looked after , so little over 200k is just average milage on them, so don't worry about remap, in worst case your turbo will end up little earlier, than without remap. But if it has to go, then it will go anyway.

Re: Remap advice
135 mph was by speedo, 2 years ago. Diference with sat nav is about 5 miles. So the real speed was maybe little less than 130mph. Could try it with sat nav, but repassed my licence already few years ago, so no wish to get it banned again :D plus now i'm a father, so some one gona miss me, if things ...

Re: Remap advice
Yes Gaz, thats the one. Only mine already goes 130+ mph. Sometimes I'm thinking that maybe it's alredy remapped by some previous owner. Is there any way how to find it out with VCDS? Turbo pressure is one thing, that should be increased after remap if i'm right. What milibars do stock engine usually...

Re: Seats swapping from vw to Vauxhall astra G
Without modifications you won't get them seats fitet. Better get some nice highline seats out of ebay. You can fit them from facelift to prefacelift passat without any problems. Only difference is airbag connector under seat, but you can take it of from old seats. Thats what i did.

Re: Remap advice
Can some one give me advice, where to look for remap on 110hp tdi afn engine. Thats an old shape VE pump engine not PD, so most places who is doing remaps around east Yorshire, can't do mine, because it's not possible to remap through OBD port. Also have seen remapped plug'n play ecu's on ebay for a...

Re: running the car with water - damage limitation
Agree with you Karl, but from end of November till now is pretty short time, so don't belive, that any damage will be done to engine. Corrosion to happen needs oxigen, so it will happen a lot faster on open surfaces, no inside the system which is full with liquid. But like you said, first need to lo...

Will do it on mine shortly, looks more than simple. Just google "passat b5 heated seat wiring" and you will see, that it's just 8 wires you need to connect on each side. Fuses to connect are 44 and 5. Hopefully will be good weather in weekend, so will make my done.

When i have 90 ° temp on my 1.9tdi, i can open coolant cap without problems. Can hear like small pshhh for maybe 1 or 2 seconds, no coolant comes out. So there is not a lot pressure in system.

Can be broken exhaust. Turbo need to be inspected before throwing away £££. If it whistle but there are no movement in bearings, not a lot of smoke from burning oil, no oil loses, and no faults about under boost, then just keep it running. All turbos are making that sound, some of them more some ...

Re: running the car with water - damage limitation
Take it easy. First: she just toped up few liters so it wasnt just water, but weak coolant mix. Second: in couple months you cant damage anything because of rust. Anyway head is aluminium, so not affected, the same about heater matrix etc. Only damage what could happened is, if temperature drops und...

So some one did it before me. But not really worried about it. have loads of print outs whats done to car. There are receipts f...

Re: Low heat on 2003 Passat please help
Just check two pipes going through fire wall to heater matrix. If bouth are hot, your problem will be flaps. It is normal that lower pipe of front radiator is barely warm. It means your thermostat ir working ok. ( is not open all time) main coolant flow is going through heater matrix.

Can you show picture of yours please. Wanna see where you put now N75 and how it looks all together. What benefit are you getting of mooving it away from engine, where is original fixing.

Re: Pd130 Overboost, not sticky vanes!
One way valve can't be between n75 and vacum actuator(turbo). In that way when n75 is cutting out vacuum to turbo, turbo actuator cant go back, because there is still vacuum made by one way valve. And you get overboost.

Re: Compression on PD engine
If you have no power before 2000revs it could be turbo problem as well. N75 may not give vacuum to turbo actuator or some vacuum lines been broken. Can be just coroded plug on n75 and no power getting through.

Re: rear defogger and Dash control light problems.
On my passat switch turns amber when defogger is been turned on, when it's off, light is red like rest of dash. If yours is not changing colour, switch might be faulty, and heating lines can be burned, because been on all time. Chech do you get any power at defogger pinouts. If not, try to change sw...

How many years no claim bonus do you have by the way? Three years ago octagon was asking to send proof of no claim with in 30 days if remember right. You will get letter from previous insurer in two weeks, so you have 2 more weeks to send it them back. Shouldn't be any problems, if adress is correct...

Re: Insurance renewal - help.
I'm with octagon for 3 years, never had problems with them, but never made a claim as well. I'm guessing people put feedbacks when they are unhappy with something, while every thing is ok, no one cares to say how good is company, so thats why you can find bad reviews. I think it will be the same for...
