Re: Changing Philips Gamma 4 from Green to Red/Blue backlighting
I have changed a dash instrument cluster and a climatronic, but never one of these. I imagine it would not be very difficult as long as you have a bit of electronics knowledge and know how to use a soldering iron carefully (this was my job for 20 years). The leds can be purchased from ebay, google s...

B6 2.0 140
Just traded in my B5 and got myself a 2 litre 140 B6. Superb car or so I thought until I read some of the posts on here concerning this vehicle. It would appear I have bought what appears to be a problem model, believe I have the BKP engine (too cold to go out and check) well it is the 57 model so I...

looking to purchase 5.5
Just wondered if anyone could offer a little help here. Looking to buy a B5.5, with about £3000. I currently have a petrol B5 (1997) and wish to upgrade to a diesel a bit newer. Want to know a little bout model specs, what to look for, what sort of mileage I should consider etc. Thinking I could ge...

Re: colour of dash lights change
This is relatively easy as long as you are ok with a soldering iron. I changed my 1997 passat from green to blue, and it took me a couple of hours. To go from blue to white would not be a problem as white leds operate at a similar voltage to blue. You will need to by surface mounted leds from ebay a...

Re: The brightest whitest plug and play bulbs for my b5.5
I fitted a set of HID upgrades and put the car through an MOT test with some trepidation. Well it passed with no comments at all, and the garage is a reputable one so I am sure it was checked. The car incidentally is a 1997 passat 1.8 SE with ordinary (non projector) headlamps.

Has happened to me 3 times now, once with a cc and twice with the bank. CC was for £1250, and bank was somewhere in the region of £1200 each time, and I got every penny back on all occasions. The credit card took the longest though at about 3 months. I am fastidious about security but still got do...

Forward from the original post, I have managed to get the car to start and run with the immo 3 cluster. I cannot however get the rev counter to work, and it shows 'low oil pressure stop engine' in the display even though this is not the case!! I feel I am fairly close to getting this working, but ne...

swapping a cluster
I would like a bit of general advice re a cluster swap!! I have a later cluster with the silver rings and when I fit it into my 97 B5 when I eventually get it to start the rev counter does not work. It also comes up with a low oil pressure warning. Is there some sort of incompatibility here or am I ...

12v LOL...........no seriously, just measure it and find one that fits with the terminals on the correct side. I have one out of an Astra in mine and it works ok, as long as it has reasonable capacity. A friend of mine used to use wheelchair batteries, and I have also done this when I worked for a c...
