Re: Bonnet Washer Jet Removal

Resolved : Just need to be a little more 'aggressive'. Make sure to remove from the rearmost side - i.e. the closest edge to the windscreen, simple finger pressure like the older B6 I found challenging but I lack the strength I once had due to arthritis, I used a trim removal tool. Everything else i...

Bonnet Washer Jet Removal

Had cause to replace the bonnet on our B7 and I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the washer jets from the bonnet, the older B6 were easy. Unfortunately the place that supplied the new bonnet cut the connections to the bonnet so I need to re-use our old ones. This isn't a big deal bu...

Re: Software for VAG and more ???

Can of worms for sure - if they're prepared to cheat that way though can they really be trusted, what else would they cheat on - customers perhaps. I could see how short term a legit business may need to practice this way - the second you run a business everyone sticks a hand in your pocket, the min...

Re: Software for VAG and more ???

Any 'trader' that would use fake anything should be put out of business - I'd report them in a heartbeat, oh and for the record any IT business that was complicit I'd report also. Uwe (Rosstech) puts a lot into VCDS, it is worth every penny, no serious VAG group owner interested in DIY should be wit...

Re: VAG Experts - Van

So these are the only two positions possible - it isn't possible to set the cam gear in any other location - I've tried countless times. The first is the closest. Since the book says to lock the cam at TDC and then move the gear until it aligns with the mark I did exactly that. Unfortunately the cam...

VAG Experts - Van

For a week now I've been trying to get a timing belt set up on a 2.5TDi (BJK engine) but no matter what I do the belt is never in the correct zone when the tension is applied. I'll post some pictures later - too much sun out there now for my tastes. The crank is locked - VAG tool, the cam was set up...

Re: Drive shaft Bolt - tightening.

Yeh I managed to get 35 degrees or so before things just stopped moving. My history with garages is similar - saying that they replaced stuff that they didn't, not securing underside trims etc, greasy marks from boots on carpets, missing nuts and bolts, using the wrong nuts and bolts, using inferior...

Re: Drive shaft Bolt - tightening.

Too much of a control freak I guess. I do most of my own so that I know how it has been done although age and health are starting to interfere. My experience of many so called garages has left me pretty distrustful of them all. Until I got into the IT world I did this stuff for a living although on ...

Re: Drive shaft Bolt - tightening.

Sure isn't - been there too - only reason I'm still breathing is the rumble strip on a trip back down from Edinburgh to Conwy (where I used to live) ...

If I feel even slightly drowsy now it is time to stop - ain't worth it.

Speaking of which damn - ... I wish they'd stop messing with the clocks

Re: Drive shaft Bolt - tightening.

Had a 'cheater' on it .... used a very heavy duty jack handle out of a 10 ton trolley jack ... didn't work ... it was seeing what that was doing that stopped the attempts. And a 3/4" sq drive will eat a 1/2" for breakfast .. I have 1" too but can't find a 12 point socket in 24mm suita...

Re: Drive shaft Bolt - tightening.

Har Har ... Of course but when a 1 metre long breaker bar - not a piece of cheap poo incidentally but a Draper Expert - is twisting the way this was there is only one thing happening next - the socket explodes, the joint on the bar lets go - either one results in unpleasant things happening to eithe...

Re: Drive shaft Bolt - tightening.

I do wonder how they manage this in VW because looking at the recommended tools in ETKA they're inferior to what I have - no way a standard 1/2" sq drive torque wrench is doing this unaided (assuming it even can before exploding).

Drive shaft Bolt - tightening.

OK - anyone got any tips for tightening this ***** bolt that holds drive shaft in wheel hub - the 24mm splined thing. Yes it's a new bolt before the question is asked - as is the hub and the drive shaft. I've got it to 200NM, I started the angle torque process but that thing move 35 degrees and it a...

Re: RNS315 - Address Entry - or Upgrade

This is for a B7 - the B6 is in semi retirement, still a sound car, should sell it on but we've owned it for pretty much its entire life, it has never let us down seriously so I find it hard to part with. I don't care about the fancy stuff via Canbus but it would have been nice to retain the wheel c...

Re: RNS315 - Address Entry - or Upgrade

I was very tempted by the 'pumpkin' units some time back - I'll look these links over. No she's not a lifestyle courier, she imports African art / fashion items, has clothing tailor made for the African community (and anyone else who cares to part with coin ...) Many of those she supplies aren't gen...

Re: RNS315 - Address Entry - or Upgrade

Agreed - but why it has to be expensive is a source of some annoyance. This is actually partly about deliveries, it is for the missus who needs to be able to go to all kinds of obscure, mostly private address's as part of her business where research of the area just isn't viable. She needs an in car...

Re: RNS315 - Address Entry - or Upgrade

The biggest issue with a lack of house numbers is that many house numbers aren't clear or obvious - more so at night, very few homeowners give any thought to making the number (or name) easy to see from the road or in poor light. Looking at house numbers takes your attention from where it should be ...

RNS315 - Address Entry - or Upgrade

We have a 3 year old Passat with an RNS315, I have no issues but the other half bitches about not being able to enter a 'house number' when using postcode entry - something I hadn't even seen but I rarely use sat nav in the UK. I tried it and she's right - if I enter the 7 digit postcode there is no...

VCDS Error 09754 Coolant Pump 2

So 'er indoors came home with a MIL light - VCDS says it is 009754 - Coolant Pump 2 P261A - 000 - Open Circuit The fault can't be cleared and just returns so I guess it is new pump time - but a couple of questions Which pump 5N0 965 561 (PIERBURG) or 5N0 965 561A (BUEHLER) - ETKA isn't very helpful ...

Re: Where's the fuse diagrams gone

Well I got it back but had to pop the instrument cluster out, I multi metered all fuses, VCDS couldn't talk to it, disconnecting the battery didn't fix, took the plug out the back, put it back in and it lit up immediately - go figure - lets see how long it stays fixed.

OK - 2013 B7 2.0 TDi bluemotion with start stop - that's the car The problem this morning the speedo / instrument binnacle is dead - I've tried the battery off reset - I now need to check fuses - but which effing one - there is no diagram in the user manual. New Key -- source in North West

Is VW the only reliable place to get a spare key for a 2013 B7 - two non VW companies have tried now, both have failed, the price from VW is eye watering and exploitation £400 by the time it's coded to the car (the part every place I've tried has failed at - opening the door is easy - fooling the ca...

B7 2.0 Bluemotion - what parts are needed

Any one here have a 2013 on 2.0 Bluemotion (140bhp) that can tell me the part numbers I need to replace the items below (assuming the parts have numbers on them) or at least take a picture or two of theirs. This is the cold air intake - I've no idea how it got in this state (only bought car today) t...
