More likely hot discs & pads which cool down loose grip and hey presto car rolls away. I always leave in gear especially on hills etc. Hope you get it all sorted ok, but you never reclaim the time and agro needed to sort it out.

Always best to go for a GATES belt kit or similair quality, always think what happens if it breaks or slips, good to change water pump for a metal impeller item at same time.
