Re: oh no,cam belt?

 well the car is still on the garage. They claim they had sent it away to be welded ,not metal stitching. X(. Now they are supposedly fitting the engine back in and replacing some followers. I should get it back next week but I'm resided to the fact the car is f.cked and I'll have to get an...

Re: oh no,cam belt?

I rang the garage today and they say the engine is out and that something broken off inside the engine . They claim it's nothing to do them but they will fix it . He said they will have the block sent away to be repaired ,I was hoping they'd replace it . I find it hard to believe that you can really...

Re: oh no,cam belt?

The man in charge said they've got to take the engine out and look what's actually happened before he can say anything. So he said give them 2 weeks with it being Christmas. I don't believe a word he says I told him that no matter what he says I believe they are responsible for the damage and I will...

Re: oh no,cam belt?

Update I've been to the garage to pick up a courtesy car. I yet again got into a discussion about responsibility. I told them the stud should have been replaced and there are specific torque settings. (Thanks)Then he accepted responsibility for the belt but not the block. He said they need to examin...

Re: oh no,cam belt?

Yeah they got the car back Monday. The car never lost any oil and after a short test drive it was pouring out. I've got to see them tomorrow for a courtesy car .
Could his impartial engineer be a friend of his is and is it just bs.

Re: oh no,cam belt?

Re: oh no,cam belt?

They said they did nothing to the stud .So they definitely didn't replace it. There was no damage or anything wrong with car when I took it in. They are claiming the damage to the block is not near the cam belt. So they are claiming it has nothing to do with them.( it's on front ) Not sure what to d...

Re: oh no,cam belt?

Sh.t I got the car back today, it had supposedly been tested . Instead of driving straight home I gave it a small test drive. It sounded fine unlike last time and drove ok I thought there could have been a slight power loss but hard to say for sure. Anyway I got back home and noticed an oil trail. C...

Re: oh no,cam belt?

The garage have had the car since Monday now. They claimed it was a faulty tensioner first. Yesterday they said the stud the tensioner was fixed to sheared of the engine block. But what's worrying is after inspecting they claim there is no engine damage. They have since drove the car and just want t...

Re: oh no,cam belt?

Thanks for your reply. I've just looked at a few videos on youtube .it lòoks like a major job ,good job I ain't paying.
The garage didn't seem phased by the situation in any way. They are long established Volvo garage, so I hope they do a proper job and hopefully I'll have a better engine than before

Re: oh no,cam belt?

That doesn't sound good I just hope the garage do all what needs to be done. They said they where going to claim as they were supplied a faulty part. If they do aĺl the work needed will the engine be as good as it was before or maybe an improvement due to new parts. I was only going very slow at the...

Re: oh no,cam belt?

I rang the garage after giving them some time with the car. They said it was a faulty tensioner and they accept full responsibility and will fix any damage done at no cost to me. They were still inspecting for further damage.
What damage is it likely to have caused?

oh no,cam belt?

I had my cam belt replaced on Friday. It's the first time I've drove car since I thought sounded noisy not the same as before. I got to my destination and it stalled .I tried to restart it but it wouldn't. I rang the garage that did the belt and water pump, they picked the car up and took back to th...

loose pipe / worn turbo compressor outlet

background since i bought the car its always had the turbo siren noise . A few years ago i replaced all the turbo seals because i had a black smoke problem (that turned out to be a flexible pipe from the airbox, a broken clip holding down a rubber going into metal pipe with a metal clip holding the ...

Re: air in clutch

Update I took it to the garage and we went for a little test drive. He was happy with the feel of the clutch pedal, which had stopped making the air expelling sound in the engine bay. He put the notchy feeling down to gearbox wear and tear. He said the slave would have been changed when the clutch w...

Re: air in clutch

Yes it's a pd 2008, 6 speed I think it's in gearbox but to make things worse I can now hear air expelling noise when the clutch pedal is pressed. I hope both the slave and master aren't bad. either way it's booked in for tomorrow at the indie vw garage I just hope it doesn't give up completely on th...

i thought i'd try it one more time using pressure pushing through the valve. the clutch pedal still feels a bit soft and the gears are a bit notchy . I'm not sure really what to do now changing the slave cylinder will be a job too big for me . Everything works but not as good and smooth as it should...
