Would the joints be the.cause of the black smoke and if so does that mean I'll need a new set of hoses or is there something I can do to the existing hoses/joints?

Re: Black smoke

I presume it's a diesel. Black smoke is usually caused by excessive fuel or more usually too little air. Boost leaks are quite common and will result in black smoke when hoofing the car. They can usually be seen by looking for wet oil patches on the boost hoses / intercoolers and hose joints. Yes s...

Thanx for your reply,
I gladly pay £90 for them to replace the windscreen but there's no point if they want to repair the crack if they can?

Windscreen replacement/insurance

I was driving on a road that has not soo long ago had a cheap resurface, tar than loose chipings . One hit the windscreen and cracked it, the crack is about 7cm long. A definate MOT failure X( I read they couldn't repair a crack bigger than a 50p .I have windscreen cover on my insurance policy. If t...

Re: Air filters

I tryed a ramair foam type filter it worked well but kept messing up my air flow sensor. The revs used to go kind of erratic .it took me a while to work out what was causing the problem as it took a while to happen and got gradually worse
So it definately wasn't an inprovement

Steering angle 00778 05 not accepting basic settings

Finally I got around to fitting my mfsw. The controls work fine. The abs control module won't accept the basic settings for the steering angle sensor. when I go into the measuring blocks and turn the wheel it stays on zero.I was expecting the clock spring to a revolution out? Any ideas before I take...

I've got most of the parts I need now, just waiting for a wire to connect up cruise con because I very much doubt mine has it in already but it would be a welcome surprise. :-P I've been looking at the clock spring the one on the stalks I'm not convinced it will work. I'll will test it with a multi ...

Re: retrofit mfd /mfsw

I've ordered the ae version . Now my next question is which steering wheels are compatible ?
on the passat i've seen two types of mfsw the older one with round buttons (as in the photo) or the newer one with rectangle buttons(possibly a b7version). Then there are golf mfsw etc :-s

I've not seen any 3C0-953-549-AH on fleabay but a few 3C0-953-549-B and 3C0-953-549-AE .
The AH version supports Lin 2.0 and 1.3 what does that actually mean?

Re: retrofit mfd /mfsw

I've fitted the highline clocks no problem apart from a small cut on my hand  the clocks had 17 on not 16k as the seller said so I'm only 1k out which is next to nothing. Now my problem I wanted to get into the settings menu(so I can adjust the date for a start) on the mfd but I can't and thin...

Re: retrofit mfd /mfsw

I've seen some clocks that apparently have 116k on. Now on my last mot my reading was 116122 it's now 118k.not much difference. So if I fit the cluster with 116k on, when it comes to mot time the miles will be slightly low for that year! Could I get away without getting them adjusted to ecu reading ...

Re: retrofit mfd /mfsw

I read that if the clock was already zeroed you can use vcds to correct the mileage because it believes it is a new replacement part or it pulls the correct mileage from the cars ecu can't quite remember which! Although if i can find someone who can adapt the mileage once the replacement cluster is ...

Re: retrofit mfd /mfsw

i'm still trying to find someone who can zero the clock! Maybe the guys who did my oil pump can do it, they use "autologic diagnostics"" and they can apparently code keys as well ! Did you get the mileage zeroed before you installed the new clocks? does it make any difference if from ...

Re: retrofit mfd /mfsw

I want to go from half height red to full height red. I was thinking of getting it from the breakers but i doubt they will have the software to reset the clock. retrofit mfd /mfsw

This morning I browsing second hand passat parts and saw a cheap mfsw stearing wheel with air bag . now I know I also need a new control module for my low line, maybe a air harness ! Although I'm unsure about that I'll be upgrading from the s stearing wheel (not the 3 spoke) While I was browsing I r...
