Hello there Cannondale I Would recomend (and no doubt so will other people) that you go down the route of Coilovers - They are hardly any more than Springs/Shocks nowadays. Mine are TaTechnics and ride pretty good - Gets a bit choppy on B-roads but can happily load up with roof rack/ trailer etc and...

I'd suggest changing the pollen filter, had similar issues with mine (poor ventilation-stuffy inside) and this has seemed to solve the problem - filter was really blocked after 15odd years!!
