Tried Sygic which seems a bigger outfit, but I've fired off a few questions and so far a 50% reply.
Some local speed cameras also not showing, so back to Waze !
Thanks for your comments and some good advice, and whilst I'd admit my expectation is low (questionable efficient proactiveness) and with good reason. The chirpy saleman sent me off nearly 3 weeks ago with a pile of paperwork and a smile on my face :D Noticing some stuff in the package was an VW ...
Found a bit more about "How to get personal POIs into Discover Pro"
Car-Net is supposed to be the next best thing, it's evaluated by others and found severely wanting ! :-? That aside it's what we've got and VW say it works. Here's the link to Car-Net
Has anyone successfully managed to get speed cameras onto the new Discover Nav or Discover Pro ? For it to be effective it must include an audible alert, a proper on screen camera icon and the distance to camera a reasonable distance. :-bd
The online manual says POI's can be imported on to the ...
I've had the half hour test drive on the 22nd Sept a further 40mins working out whether they wanted to match the CarWow offer from a rival garage. The garage I'm using is one of these big brand new buildings on a trading estate, everyone under thirty rushing around clutching bits of paper ...
Got the new R Line on order with Park Assist, just wondering if it's any good ? Only cost £205, if it's as good as the you tube videos then it'll be the best option I've chosen but the salesperson says it's rarely chosen. A friend of mines wife has got park assist on a Beemer but in a year she's ...
I've totally gone ott, got almost all of it apart from the head up display, the most exciting bit I'm looking forward to is the area view (should stop me clipping the wheels) and park assist (reckon it was a no brainer at £205). I do a fair bit of night driving so opted for the lower LED pack at ...
Just ordered the new R Line estate last week, I've also upgraded the satnav and recently spent some time travelling in a car with a friend using Waze on his mobile phone. Looked efficient and informative, it's backed up by Google. I've registered a Waze account so will be interested to see how it ...
Can anyone help with manuals/ handbooks, are they online ?
Likely to be a 10 week wait for factory build and I'd like familiarise myself with all the stuff on it.
Many thanks in advance
My current car is a 2009 B7 estate, it cost me dearly to have the sat nav, most annoying same as your comments overall my TomTom beat the factory unit hands down. :-q Now fast forward to my new B8 order, it is very annoying VW are still lagging in connecting driver to car and interacting ~x( !
I did get an upgrade on my software and yes it had speed cameras, they also didn't sound on approach and have since disappeared. I liken it buying an alarm clock without the bell ! Pretty damm useless especially as the TomTom is so interactive with all the points of interest which is how the RNS ...
I've got the factory sat nav in my current B7 estate and updating to a new B8, but here's the thing I've found the RNS 510 increasing frustrating, 1/ It hasn't got speed cameras 2/ When changing route, it take an age to re-route directing me back to the old route for miles 3/ you can't interact with ...
I checked with the dealer on my first spec, the £730 LED headlight and daylights option doesn't give you LED daylights (crafty use of words) that would need the dearer £1200 premium LED lighting pack and these are the ones I've specced. Having seen the standard and LED options, it's now non ...
Hello to all Passat owners, I'm preparing a new Passat 190ps DSG R Line estate and part exing the old faithful B7 Highline The standard spec leaves loads of options to drool over and I'm like a kid in a sweet shop choosing 6k worth. Going through carwow seems a nobrainer as I've managed to get 22 ...
I'm a subscriber to Pocket World gps and have used them for speed cameras to my TomTom
I'm keen to help my relative who's seriously considering the B8 estate for his company car and he'll spec it with the Active Info Display, car-net and the upgraded Discover Pro.
I run the latest maps and speed cameras on my rns 510, updated via sd card and works great, but when i''m not in my passat i use tomtom on my mobile phone, and the yearly subscription cost is cheap too, full traffic etc :)
Hello yes thanks for your comment, I updated mine once but the speed ...
Here's the thing, I'm a b7 estate owner (and loving it with loads of toys :-bd ) with the RNS510, I haven't upgraded the maps for 18 months ( don't know what VW would charge and won't go down the illegal route ) and am wondering whether my old TomTom wasn't and still would do a better job than the  ...
I've finally got the new toy installed :D the very nice RNS510 DAB.
It was installed by http://www.advanced-incar.co.uk/volkswagen-retrofits as I mentioned in my previous post. They were very efficient and all went without a hitch, I opted to go to their workshop in Poole, Dorset As it wasn't local ...
Michael I too have the RNS 510 and like you was an avid user of the Tom Tom.
The speed cameras are no where near as good as Tom toms. They DO NOT warn you!! You have to keep looking at the map to detect them yourself with no advanced warning, which you might as well just notice them yourself lol ...
