Re: Brake pad warning

It's definitely not an M.O.T failure. My light came on December 2014 and I've passed two M.O.Ts since, one being two weeks ago. Pads were still chunky.

Re: Wing mirror glass

I had the same thing happened to me. Set off from my house and the glass didn't come with the car. Got a replacement off eBay for about £4 and stuck it onto the heating element. I've used the heated mirrors, the glass hasn't fallen out and it still clears when it's got condensation on it. This is t...

Sorry, I should have mentioned that everything was working fine until recently.

I will have a look into that anyway.

Door lock issue, but not the usual...

I'm having an issue with my drivers door lock when using the double pull of the handle method of unlocking and opening the door. The button goes up but the door doesn't open. The module is a replacement module (by the previous owner) but it is working fine in all electronic ways. I can unlock the do...

Re: Manchester Member mechanic??

I'm not a mechanic so I can't help you with the service but while you're waiting you can reset your service meter yourself. Hold the trip reset button in as you turn the ignition on, let go of that then turn the clock adjustment knob towards the right. Ignition off and back on and you shouldn't see ...

I don't think you'll notice any difference in MPG. My cars sits at low 70s on the Climatronic and I can get 68MPG on a run.

Save your money and spend it on diesel.

I have a cable tie on mine and it's still a little loose and spins slightly. I'd recommend using a jubilee clip so you can tighten it up more.

Re: Really bad condensation throughout car with heavy rain

Surprised no one has mentioned checking the recirculation flap is operating properly. When I bought my car it wasn't (it was stuck closed so no fresh air entered the car) so if I had any passengers in the car it would steam up and I'd have to crack windows. Fixed the flap and I've never had any stea...

Re: Quick coilover question

You can undo both sides of the arb for extra room also I found with this that if you just undo the bottom strut bolts on both sides it allows the ARB to move down enough. Undoing the bottom strut bolts should be the first job the OP tackles because they're a oh fiddlesticks! to get out due to them ...

Re: Quick coilover question

You don't need to remove the pinch bolts. You can lever the lower control arm down enough to get the lower strut mount out from the control arm by using a scaffold tube/long bar against the control arm and the engine subframe. I used this write up for the removal... Clicky And this one for swapping ...

Re: Intercooler Sprayer

Yeah, I had a look at an Evo forum last night and they were all saying it was pretty useless and you'd benefit more from the weight reduction of removing the system. Mighty Car Mods on YouTube retro-fitted a spray bottle system to their turbo'd MX5 and saw a 20% decrease in air intake temperature wh...

Intercooler Sprayer

I'm not expecting any real gains, just thought it'd be cool to add a bit of Mitsubishi Evo to the Passat  My first idea was re-routing the rear screen washer pipe to the intercooler with a little nozzle to mist the water so you could spray it off the stalk (stealth sprayer). I can see two p...

Try finding a nice tall bread lorry to hang out behind - they are tall enough that you can follow at a safe distance and still be in their slipstream. But you'll be stuck doing bread lorry speed! :) Coaches are the thing to find :D They're restricted to 60mph rather than 56mph and they leave a larg...

Mine's the same. Get fine MPG (up to 65 if I really try in my AWX) but on the Climatronic, temp usually stays around the low 70°c range. It even went as low as 63°c a few days ago when I was coasting down the Pennines in 5th gear. Probably not helped by my soft EGR delete. If my fuel economy takes...
