So my 08 tdi 140 died yesterday. Got it towed home, whipped the fuel filter lid off and it was low. Checked the tank pump, zero continuity across the pump and adding 12v direct does nothing. So I assume this is the issue.
I’ve topped the filter up and tried to crank it but no go. Ideas?

Re: Serpentine belt/tensioner
Pulled the roller and bearing off the new assembly, swapped out in about 5 mins. No jacking, easy as pie

Serpentine belt/tensioner
Howdy all. My tensioner has seized and taken out the belt. It's not a huge job I know but wondering can I replace just the pulley and not the tensioner? Looks like a mega quick job if so.

Front calipers - all the same?
Need to replace the front drivers on a 2l Estate. The ebay picker says the calipers are different between the 136bhp and the 140. Correct?

Re: Random cut outs 2.0tdi
Sorry 2.0 It only does it when the vehicle has been standing for an amount of time, like overnight, always cuts out at EXACTLY the same spot. Usually on a Sunday. Once ive cranked it and its going again its fine for days, then one morning at the same spot... computer ses no.. Edit: also seems to do ...

Re: Random cut outs 2.0tdi
Code from OBD is P0087 low pressure at fuel rail. Seems like theres a whole load of possibilities with this. If its a high pressure cam failure would that allow it to run after the minute of solid cranking and be fine for ages? Or can I write that one off?

Happened 3 times now, cruising along, yellow coil light comes on, then I get engine fault and it grinds to a halt. Crank it for 2 mins and it fires up and will go again no issues for weeks. Got the connect app and the only fault is "exhaust system/catalytic converter malfunction". May or m...

Update. It will unlock if I pop the key cover off and unlock with the emergency key.
Update 2. It won't lock the driver's door using the button on the door handle.

Driver's door won't unlock on external handle after being locked
So. Unlock the car external handle won't open the door. Crack the window and use internal first to unlock and the external works fine until locked again. I can hear the motor actuating, when locked and unlocked it just doesn't recognise the extension handle when first unlocked

Re: Check coolant level - zero movement on temp guage
The check coolant light is on despite it not being low. The temp guage doesn't move and there's zero fluid coming from the bleed port.

Re: Check coolant level - zero on temo guage
1.9 PD, yes tried bleeding. Zero fluid in the top of the system. Footwells dry
When I say gone it's gone from Max to min. But no idea when they happened. I meant where's the fluid in the system gone from the core etc

I just wonder where the fluids gone surely the system is pressurised pump or none. Which is why you bleed it?

Check coolant level - zero movement on temp guage
Coolant isnt low enough to trigger the sensor - temp guage sits at 0. Header warm ish. Pulled the pipe to the heater matrix and zero fluid.

So my starter was hanging off the other day. It's only held with two bolts correct? Above the starter is seemingly missing a very long 12mm ish bolt. Ideas?

Re: Gearbox stiff shifting into 1st and reverse at stand sti
Have hopefully ruled out the clutch and flywheel. A couple of pumps on the clutch makes 1st and rev easier if it won't go. Just driven it and it seems fine currently. I'm thinking either Slavs needs a bleed or possibly front engine mount is shot and the box has dropped. I can push the snub with my f...
