Re: Dashcams Please Advise
Folks, anyone installed a camera in a Mk2 CC? What slot in the fuse box did you use?

Re: CC RNS315 to 510 Upgrade
Thanks.
I have a DAB 510 in my Mk5 GTi at present. I just can't quite picture what the Bluetooth loom was like and if the mic was separate. It would be ideal if I could retain the factory fitted mic in the CC and connect the retrofit loom to it.

CC RNS315 to 510 Upgrade
Has anyone upgraded the RNS315 in a CC to a RNS510? I'm just looking for confirmation that a separate 7P6 Bluetooth module will be required too because the 315 has it built in.
What way does the wiring work too? Will a new retrofit harness bypass the existing mic etc?

Re: 2.8 V6 4motion advice
Back to square one! Decent enough car for the money, but clutch was very high and brakes didn't seem too effective. Not sure if either can be adjusted, so decided to leave it sadly.

Re: 2.8 V6 4motion advice
Going to look at an 02 estate with 102k today.
If there is evidence of a leak on the rear diff is it the end of the world?! Or can the oil be changed and a new seal/bung be installed?

Re: 2.8 V6 4motion advice
Jeepers, I always thought it had a chain. Does the Bora/Golf 2.8 have a chain though? I just assumed they were the same lump. With regards to checking tyre wear, if uneven front and back could it also not be down to the surfaces the owner might have driven on as you suggested? Or is it more likely t...

Perfect, thanks for that- very informative.
So is there anything I can actually check when I go to look at one?
Is there anyway easy way to check the 4wd is working and everything in place?

Re: 2.8 V6 4motion advice
I thought the Passat, A4 etc operated in the same fashion. Is torsen permanent 4wd then, or just when needed? If so, what's the difference between how it engages and haldex? I assume if there's no haldex controller and its just a mechanical system, its more reliable? Do the torsen systems ever fail ...

Re: 2.8 V6 4motion advice
Is the pollen filter behind the scuttle panel on the passenger side like it is on the Bora? Just a care of ensuring there's no leaves clogged under it, or how do you check?
Is the 2.8 not chain driven?
Any simple way to test the 4wd is working?
Is it the same haldex system as an A4

2.8 V6 4motion advice
Folks, I'm considering a 2.8 4motion manual estate. It'll be a second car so will only do circa 4k miles a year. I'm just wondering how reliable the 2.8 is? Is there anything prone to going on them? Is a timing belt change dear? I assume the 4motion system is fairly reliable? What are they realistic...

I assume the installation procedure is just the same as a Mk5 Golf? The same SOT cable is needed for example?

Fitting a rear door lock
Anyone ever removed and tried to re-fit a rear door lock? It would have been an hours job, but i just cannot work out how to attach the short 2" cable to the exterior door handle. My hand (and even my wifes smaller hand) is cut to pieces, but theres no way that i can see to get at it past the w...

Re: B5.5 Rear door not opening
I had to remove the one in my driver door, and it was a total disaster of a job! I would assume the rear door is easier, as theres no key bit to line up etc. Do you have to undo the window and tape it up in the closed position, or can you work at the lock with the window up and closed just?? How muc...

Re: B5.5 Rear door not opening
Nah, the regulator in the passenger window has gone, so its not an electrical issue.
The rear door issue feels more like a mechanical problem too.
