Re: parking sensors inside the bumper !!

The fronts on my original grill were held on with double sided sticky pads (like number plate ones) or do you mean the bracket is still attached and the sensor has just slipped out? :???:

Re: Recon turbo - passat 06 2.0 TDI

Fitted price is probably close to £800. A proper garett unit is around £500+vat (I paid £520+vat for my new one last month). Something to be aware of is that none of the recon units use original garett bearings as garett will not sell the bearings so they either use third party bearings or just c...

Either the top mount itself is gone but before paying out i'd check all of the nuts holding the top mount in place ad holding the damper in the centre of the top mount.

Re: Do Passats ever win show n shines?

Unfortunately passats don't normally get a look in... Especially when you go to the big shows and you just get a bootboys/booted class.... Especially if Gareth Spillers vent turns up... It may aswell be a concours car!! I think you were robbed though Johny! Maybe if you didn't have those horrible 18...

Have a look at rokkor stuff Tom.

It's racelands sister company (or something like that), I had some on my old b5.5 (see sig pic) and they gave a good drop.

Re: On the off chance...

I just dont get why you would do that! I mean they had minor curbing when Jack took it, but my god what did he do to it, his brother said the clutch was fine and then maybe a month later he came to a meet and told me he'd driven it so hard the clutch went and he'd had to replace the tyres, good job...

I knew who you first sold it to (jack) but it then sold to someone else in this neck of the woods (Somerset) and I'm afraid to say it was gradually getting worse :((

Saw my old wagon this week whilst on holiday... Wasnt impressed with how it was looking :(

Re: B6 Styling?

There is alot available for b6s but you have to do some digging To find them... Vw parts hold the set side skirts/front lips IMO from votex (as on my b6) and the r-line kit looks smart too (look at indywindys thread). Grilles are plentiful from fk, Jom etc. Personally I think you have to be careful ...

Re: Safe or not?

As said I would personally not stack spacers or spacers and adaptors.

There's enough places now that will make you spacers or adaptors to your measurements... Or at least the nearest millimetre. Or failing that you buy them slightly too thick and have them machined down.

When I had my b5.5 I looked into chrome and black but I was never happy with the way they were finished... Unless you've won the lottery and buy a mattig one that has proper metal slats like the original!

Sounds like quite alot. Personally I'd be going back to the dealer and asking what they deem to be an acceptable amount of oil use between servicing.

Different combinations of polishes/pads.

Tom has a DAS pro. He's done a fair few, think he uses megs stuff. I've heard good things about the menzerna polishes but I've no personal experience with them.

Mains power isn't a problem, just get an inverter thingy to plug into your cigarette socket. I'm looking at getting a Das 6 pro DA polisher for a bit of paint correction and up keep. I had a look on Parker`s after I made this thread and just as well as nobody has posted any figures. Had a look on autotrader to, looks like I could pick up a fairly decent b5.5 for around the £2k mark, the road tax is pretty much £205 on all the diesels no matter what bhp or year 1996-2005 I pre...

congratulations on your new purchase... the Ebrake took me 2/3 days to get used to in my B6.. don't have an issue at all with it now. as to them getting faults... the most common is the switch which isn't too costly an item (circa. £25). I'm sure you'll have a field day with your new car :-bd as to...

As a general rule you can't use one lot of ncb on two policies. Although if you ring some specialists and explain you have one for shows and the other for daily transport they will allow you a discount (providing you're the only one on the policies) meaning only one of your vehicles Is being driven ...
