Re: A/C stopped working

Not sure what they did but I spoke the the guy and he seemed to know what he was on about - however the shear plate wasn't mentioned. I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new one for them to fit (much cheaper then them supplying). I'll have a look when it's removed.

Re: A/C stopped working

OK, the garage reports the compressor isn't working. Not happy as it's only 3 yrs or so old!

They say it's not engaging, is there anything that could stop it doing so other than the compressor itself - for example a dodgy sensor/wire?

Re: A/C stopped working

Ah, I see - not that clued up on VCDS... I know KF has a poor reputation for a/c (well, anything really lol) but it was handy.

I've booked it in to a local indy on Wed. - they said it may just be the gas a KF aren't that good as well

Re: A/C stopped working

The std 2 dial one. The bowden cable's fine as there is plenty of air, just the wrong sort!

One of the motorised flaps could explain it but all the vents are warm, not just one.

A/C stopped working

Just as the sun arrives..... It was working OK on Thursday, but maybe not as cold as normal. No cold air at all yesterday. Took it to Kwit-Fit who said it had 400g in it, they've topped it up to 600g but still no cold air so no cost :) The compressor has been replaced since I bought it 3yrs/25k ago ...

Sticking caliper

A year or 2 ago one of the front calipers stuck 'on' - had a lot of smoke and heat! New caliper, discs and pads sorted it. A few days ago the pad warning light was on for 1 journey which surprised me as the pads are fairly new and I only do about 7k miles/year. Anyway, driving it on the m/way yester...

Not sure - had one changed on a Focus that was sub £200 IIRC, but I believe VW are a lot more, so maybe £500+

You can get them cleaned though with is much cheaper.

Re: Temperature Gauge Malfunction

I'm not sure that a long drive would raise the temp. - round town driving is more likely to do that. I'd put a new thermostat in as a quick/cheap first job. (Assuming it is quick on these cars lol).

Re: Advice on possible 2010 CC purhcse please?

Do you mean auto or DSG? (Not sure if they do an auto, but if so, it'll be different). I get about 50mpg on the motorway at about 70mph - although got 61mpg on a run recently \m/ Also get about 650 from a tank - whatever size it is, but that's with general driving and would be more if most was on lo...

Re: A/C bowden cable orientation

OK, so both ends are keyed and will only fit one way. The top end was very hard to pull out, and when reinserted correctly the knob is now correct, so I must have somehow inserted the top end in against the key at some point

A/C bowden cable orientation

At some point I've got the direction control on the a/c (non-climatronic) 180 deg out.

I've removed the a/c panel and can't just move the knob 180deg as it's keyed, how do I fix this - can the top end of the cable be inserted 180deg or do I need to pull it out of the bottom end and rotate?

Rear dashcam

I've got a front dashcam and after having some tw@t in a Range Rover sport tailgating/flashing me ob the motorway (I was doing 75 overtaking a slower car!) I think a rear one is called for. So, where can I find ignition switched 12v (it's an estate) and any recommendations for where to mount and cur...

I'd expect a small leak and maybe noise - but I doubt you'd hear it if it's a diesel!

I had the same - the tracking was way out. Note to self, always get it checked after the Mrs has it for a fortnight as she ignores potholes.

Fitted with Pirellis.

What's a CTS ?

Re: 2.0 tdi low mpg economy

Mine , 2008 cr was doing 63mpg yesterday, usually average 55 - 56 mpg on country roads. It has 170k on the clock and badly needs a service. Blimey! I can get about 50 out of mine on a motorway run at 70-75mph -110k on it. There does seem to be a big spread of mpg for different cars with the same kit.
