Re: Snapped Cam Belt What To Do !
Dont, you did do dammage to the valves, no doubts about it ! Pull the head if you wanna asess the dammage and price-up the replacement parts. As i said, the parts will cost you the best part of £300 and if you have mechanical skills and the right tools(right sockets, a decent torque wrencg, few sp...

Re: K04 questions - Please help!!!!
full boost 22lbs @ 2700 rpm, suppose you could spray the intercooler but its more hassle, some older ones come with 3bar fpr, but bdw modles have 4bar fpr. Have you looked into a garrett GT28RS eliminator kit, what you need there is new exhaust manifold, 500cc injectors, revo map, will cost you abou...

Re: Snapped Cam Belt What To Do !
Just because the cam belt snapped it not to say that any damage was caused, I have hade a few snap on these engines with no damage caused and yes some with damage, whip of the cam cover have a look at the follers for damage, set up the timing in the correct sequence as not to foul the valves on the ...

Re: K04 questions - Please help!!!!
I have a k04-15 set-up on my passat, 398cc audi S3 injectors, decat full system back, Giac custom map, Dual side mount intercoolers and a 3 bar fpr, it dynoed at 220 bhp 270 ftlbs of torque on a hot day. There was a fair bit of trial and error involved. first I ran it with a front mount intercooler ...

Re: MORE POWER
Thanks for the suggestion.
passat comes standard with a 4bar fpr and it seemed to run a bit rich with that so I switched to 3bar as most of what I am using is s3 related and s3 uses 3bar. 398cc injectors @ 3bar.

Re: V6 TDI HARD TO START
Thanks for the info. Have'nt checked fault codes yet but i suppose its a good place to start, any idea what codes I should be looking for. Just a tought, would a streched timing belt cause this problem as it might effect pump timing? No history with the car and at 90,000 it might be way over due a b...

Re: coolant
You can use other coolants, G12 is for life and does not need too be replaced unless tou loose it through maintaince such as water pump renewal etc, It can also be bought premixed, but as its not that expensive I would use G12.

V6 TDI HARD TO START
My mate has a B5.5 V6 TDI which I do most of the work on for him as he is not mechanicaly minded. Car runs great, starts first turn of the key when cold but when the engine is hot it is very hard to start, can take up too 15 seconds of constant cranking before it fires up. All filters have been chan...

Re: MORE POWER
Ok some pics of a k04 on a bam engine v k03, I used the k03 in the picture as it has the same OD as the compressor housing on a k04-15. And as my k04 is fitted to the car I can not use it to compare side by side. Also am I right in saying that all K04-15 are hybrid turbos using k03 housings with big...

Re: MORE POWER
A k04-15 uses the same housing as a k03 just bored out bigger regardless of who you buy it from, I dont think people understand me on a bam k04, it is a totally different turbo as in much bigger so can flow more air, I will post a picture later of both turbos side by side so the difference can be co...

Re: MORE POWER
Could be wrong on this, but the only benifits of fitting a bam engine would be stronger internals and larger injectors. Would still have to use passat manifolds and K04-15 turbo as bam manifold and turbo ( which I think is called a K04-020) will only suit transverse setup. At the present I am fittin...

Re: MORE POWER
AEB has same internals its just an older engine with a big port head and throttle cable, where as the awt is fly by wire. Fly by wire engines usually make a little more power. But internals on both can cope with 300bhp. The map i have is stage two as its too suit a K04-15 turbo, I also contacted awe...

No boost leaks, all pipe work is in good condition, spikes at 22 psi and holds at 20 psi. MORE POWER
I currently have a 1.8t passat, engine code awt, with a k04-15 turbo and hardware to suit which makes 220 bhp at the crank, I was hoping for figures arond the 250 mark, I am not interested in fitting garrett eliminator kits or big turbo setups. any ideas on achieving 250 bhp with a k04 setup would b...
