Re: EGR blanking & Limp mode?
You shouldn't get limp mode when fitting an EGR delete. The EGR is turned off anyway by the ECU when the car is under load such as accelerating or on the motorway it would be virtually shut off so EGR . Karl. Not related then, just coincidence? It's annoying, it never shows anything on VCDS, as it ...

EGR blanking & Limp mode?
So after 204k miles on my Passat TDI 115 PD, I've decided to fit an EGR blanking plate. The main reason was, in this heat, when I flick the A/C on by pressing 'Auto' on my CC, the idle on my car starts to fluctuate, and the car starts to blow puffs of black smoke everytime the engine blips. So for 3...

Re: Another lowering question
I've been running lowering springs for 120k miles on my Passat Estate, never had a problem going over speedbumps, just slow down! The spring rates are firmer with lowered springs, so the suspension is as soft as standard springs.

Yup, it's really annoying, any tips on how to disconnect the motor/servo? The car has only covered 55k miles! Surprisingly, my 200k+ miles TDI is perfectly fine! - touchwood!

Re: Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)
Evening all, is there a way to disconnect the V71 motor at all so it's not active with the flap open? My Father in laws car has been clicking for a while now, and recently, it's gone really loud! I've checked the flap through the pollen filter housing, it's open thankfully. Tested the recirc button,...

Re: Interior Light problem
It's most probably your bootlid/tailgate switch is broke, it built into the latch, common problem. Thanks for the reply. How would i best diagnose that this is the fault? Would I have to get it hooked up to a diagnostic machine, as electrics are not my thing at all. Cheers. Sorry for the late reply...

Re: TDI tuning box review TRUE STATMENTS
Been using one on my Passat TDI PD 115 for 100k+ miles with no ill effects. If I had the choice 10 years ago, I would have got a remap, but the tuning box was cheap compared to a remap, and my car still made 129bhp on a rolling road last month with it switched on! Not bad for a car with almost 200k ...

Re: REMOVING BLOWER MOTOR HELP.......
I could remove it with airbag in situ, took some brute force, but not put it the new one back in. Just undo the airbag, you don't even have to the connector to it, take the 4 13mm bolts off, then balance the whole thing to the right.

Thanks for getting back with results, i was about to suggest you buy a genuine Valeo one- ECP has them for about £70, almost every replacement i fitted was much noisier than the genuine ones but hey- if they do the job- why bother ? Good luck ! I was looking on the ECP site, they were around the Â...

Re: Climatronic problem - fan resistor?
It's ok folks, a new blower fan fixed the problem, the fan has full variable speed again!
Took me three hours to change, had to remove passenger side airbag to get access for removal! Got the Fan from GSF for £42 allin with a 10% off voucher for anyone whose interested.
Cheers.

I've been running budget performance tyres(225/40R18s) for the last 10yrs and over 100k miles! The latest generation of budgets though are very noisy!! I did around 4k miles on a pair, and it sounded like an aeroplane taking off when I hit 40+, swopped them straight away to a set of Nankang NSII's(I...

Re: Climatronic problem - fan resistor?
OK, so I didn't get round to fixing the problem, as I could bypass it!, until yesterday that is, when the fan gave up the ghost, so no fan = rather cold whilst driving in these conditions! So taking the CC panel off, there's just 4 connectors behind it, I had to take the glove box out instead,...

40psi is waaay too much! drop the pressures, you might even find the car handles a bit better in the wet with lower pressures! I run 33front and 35 rear on my estate.

Climatronic problem - fan resistor?
Hi guys, got a small problem with my Climatronic since the drop in temps! I've owned my Passat for 10years+, never had issues with is until now. I think the part that controls the fan speed is broke. Just out of curiosity, I decided to take my 2000 X reg Passat to a rolling road to see if she has lost much power after 197k miles! She's still running her original engine, turbo and clutch. Cambelt was last changed @186k miles, and the MAF sensor was last changed @around 150k miles, so maybe gettin...

Re: What would be your next car in 5yrs time ?
I've been meaning to change my B5 for a while now, was looking at B6 Passats and B6/7 A4 Avants, but the weak oil pumps in the 2.0vag TDI units put me off big time! My B8 is still going strong @196k miles, I'm thinking why change it?
I will probably wait until my B5 dies before I change it.
