Re: Cam Belt Change
Thanks. Appreciate its was dealership prices but in March it is 5 years old an needed a minor service, MOT, cam belt change, suggested water pump change, brake fluid change all in all in was going to cost over £1000. There were other options such as VW's "All In" service plan which include...

Anyone got any rough idea of what a cam belt changes costs at a dealership on a 2018 1.4TSi?

Interesting. The dealership picked this up on mine and they are doing it under warranty. Maybe a common problem?

Re: Discover Pro 2
I use SpeedCheetah. One off payment. Its basically a database that warns of fixed camera's, mobile speed check locations, etc. Can be a bit erroneous in places like warning of a 30 mph potential mobile camera while still outside the 30 mph zone but overall its ok. Probably best in built up areas. Mo...

Auto Hold and Handbrake Failed
Complete failure, even the parking brake doesnt come on. Relying on Park (its an auto) to hold it on my sloping drive, oh and a brick in front of a wheel as a bit of insurance. Its going in on Friday under warranty so hopefully get sorted but thought I'd post with the info. The dealership said never...

Re: Offside Headlight Washer Cover Fallen Off
As there was no damage and said cover was simply "missing", they have agreed to replace under warranty. Bit of a relief as these things can sometimes have unforeseen costs.

Re: Offside Headlight Washer Cover Fallen Off
I don't know what it should look like underneath but all seems to be present.
I'll try and post a piccy tomorrow.
Do these things just fall off or does it require some sort of intervention?

Offside Headlight Washer Cover Fallen Off
Hi All, this is on a 2018 Passat R-Line.
Just noticed that the offside headlight washer cover is missing.
Anyone know if this is something that just clips on that I can replace myself or does it need a dealer? Car is still under warranty.
Ta.

Re: Dsg auto
Sure I read Honest John saying that there have been reports of early failure of the mini clutches on DSG's due to disabling stop start causing excessive wear. I sometimes wonder whether he makes it up, but sure it was said. Also sure I tried putting mine in neutral and it turned off the auto hold or...

Re: Android Auto / Google Navigation
It seems to only mute the first part of the route instruction, the mute then cancels but the second part of the instruction, which would be another sound file, is still to play. I guess all satnav instructions are cocatinated sound files in some way, but dont get the mute / unmute problem on the nat...

Android Auto / Google Navigation
You know the way that the navigation instructions are broken down into the common commands? For example: 1.At the next roundabout ...... 2.Turn right etc. If I have music playing the system only mutes the sound for the first command, the second command is then drowned out by whatever is playing comm...

Re: Discover Nav - How to cancel wrong destination
I think we are saying the same thing but just in case ..... on mine I can't cancel the wrongly selected destination, I have to allow it to calculate the wrong route then go into routes, cancel route guidance and start again.

Discover Nav - How to cancel wrong destination
Anyone any idea how you cancel an erroneously selected destination at the stavecwhere you are prompted to select which route you want?
At the moment I have to select one then cancel it. No option to cancel before that as far as I can see.

Well, on refelection, it looks black from a distance but the black is formed by a series of squares on a silvery backdrop. Hopefully the links below work ok and explain what I mean. I think it could look black or silver depending on light / reflections etc. https://photos.app.goo.gl/kMC4EqjNkUkCRriH...

Re: B8 Driving mode selection
My mode always goes back to Normal and the active display displays D accordingly. Interestingly the Infotainment screen still (wrongly) shows the previous mode, a bug that I have reported to VW and demonstrated to a techie. To get to another mode I have to press the Mode button again.

Re: B8 Driving mode selection
Yes my demo was in a GTE. I wanted an idea of performance and that was all they had with that engine, they did all they could to disable the electrical assistance (let the battery go flat and something else that I took their word for) and was happy with the performance. I am pleased with the perform...

Re: B8 Driving mode selection
Only had it a week so getting used to it. I had a 63 plate 140 bhp 2.0 TDI before and think its a bit quicker than that but its not a "quick" car. If you are looking for something to burn off others at the lights I dare say most many motors will be the same or quicker if they are 180+ bhp ...
