Re: 20V Petrol B5.5 (2002) ALT 3BG...Oil Filter Location?

I had the same engine as yourself, and i had to get access to the filter from underneath, it's in quite an awkward position and real messy once you manage to unscrew it. I always did my own servicing because i knew i was putting the correct oil back in, i always replaced the sump plug with a new one...

Re: New MOT rules regarding dpf (May 2018)

Re: AC help

Hi Gavster,
You could always check the big 40amp fuse under the drivers side dash, bottom panels off, and it's right at the back. Had a similar issue with mine last year and this wss thd culprit

I used Autosol metal polish on mine as oxidation had taken place over the years. Didn't expect too much, but was pleasantly surprised by the results. Worth a try if nothing else

Re: Cheaper mot solution for dpf gutted ?

I hear what your saying, but new dpf's are anywhere from £600 - £1000 plus labour for fitting. There is always the option of a second hand one from ebay, and get it professionally cleaned & fitted, don't think you'd see much change from £500+ though. But i'm no expert so i could be well out with...

Re: MOT new test let us know

Gaz is another lad, I'm Ray, but that doesn't matter B-) Try to preheat it as much as possible. They keep idling car for long time before smoke test, so if thermostat is fine, it should reach temperature anyway. And one thing you can do to warm it up fast, turn inside temperature to lowest possible...

Re: MOT new test let us know

Thermostat is fine Gaz, just that the garage where i take it for MOT is only a few miles away, so doesn't fully get up to temp, and trying to give it beans to get it hot in morning traffic is nigh on impossible

ray112 wrote: Mon May 21, 2018 1:56 pm There is lowest limit, which must be (70° maybe, not sure of that) and if it's over that limit, test will be carried out. They won't rev engine which has like 50° only. More likely they wait until it reaches 70° and does the smoke test.
Is that due to possibly damaging the engine Gaz ?

Re: MOT new test let us know

Or try mot test to see what happens. Maybe you are lucky enough to get it through. Most surprising thing I saw yesterday, RAC recovery van-vw transporter with 18 plates. We were having a bit of fun through traffic lights, and every time he had pedal to floor, there was quite a lot black/dark gray s...

Re: New MOT rules regarding dpf (May 2018)

2012 dpf equipped 0.60 lol . The dpf pressure sensors should still be working it's just the remapping adjusts their perameters so a regen is never requested . Maybe it's easier to generalise to 'off' . Yeah these vin values are laughable, but if thats what the testers are adhereing to, then people ...

Yes definitely less diesel particulates to breathe , just as well they don't analyse NOx  Just to clarify the first 3 blows being over were over the 0.60 VIN , not the slack 3.00 default . First blow was around 1.75 so technically a fast pass but he knew I wanted to find it's true mean . Just...
