I am looking at getting some roof bars and a large roof box for my B6 Passat Estate.
Does anyone have any experience with the Halfords and Thule bars, or any others in fact?

Re: Fault code 1027 and 9754 *identified*
Oooh... now that is interesting. I dug out the receipts from when I bought the car and I think it might have been the EGR cooler that was changed rather than the valve, so that would suggest I will be changing the valve as well.
Thanks for that, it's a very well written guide!

Re: Fault code 1027 and 9754 *identified*
Thanks Mitch. I'll keep the thread updated as I go, but am expecting to change the EGR valve as well when funds allow next month. Although it was changed just under two years ago by the garage I bought it from, having spoken to them it is more than likely to have been a non-VW part so won't have any...

Re: Fault code 1027 and 9754 *identified*
Managed to get it scanned this morning on VCDS. Both codes showed up as on my scanner but with descriptions which were a lot more helpful. 1027 - EGR Valve intermittent fault. This was the original code I read. No idea why this was described as the Rear Warm Air Fan on my scanner but never mind. 975...

Re: Fault code 1027 / v47 - rear warm air fan. Any ideas?
So today I just plugged in my code reader to see if anything had been logged, despite no recurrence of the flashing coil or driving issues. I have done just over 3000 miles since the fault code appeared. The fault code 09754 came up, but the text underneath said "DTC definitions not found! Plea...

Re: Fault code 1027 / v47 - rear warm air fan. Any ideas?
This has still not reappeared, and I have done 500 miles since the initial problem. I'll update this thread if and when it appears again. Thanks for your help so far Richard.

Re: Fault code 1027 / v47 - rear warm air fan. Any ideas?
Thanks Richard. When I read the code I also cleared it, so nothing to read at the moment. I have done about 150 miles since and nothing has come up. Car drives as normal with no loss of power or hesitation on accelerating. If and (probably) when it comes on again I'll just turn the ignition off and ...

Re: Fault code 1027 / v47 - rear warm air fan. Any ideas?
I have a 2009 2.0TDI CR Passat Highline estate. Thought that was a B6? All I can find is this thread which suggests it is MAF related but there's not much out there for these codes. http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/98263-rear-warm-air-fan I drove home around 40 miles including motor...

Re: Fault code 1027 / v47 - rear warm air fan. Any ideas?
Erased the error code at lunch and went for a drive. The coil light didn't come back on but then I didn't get onto a motorway. Car drove as normal so far as I can tell. So... intermittant fault?

Fault code 1027 and 9754 *identified*
Driving to work this morning and the coil light starts flashing and engine power drops so motorway driving at a reasonable speed is impossible. Throttle response is smooth but slow, and the turbo is clearly not being used. Fault code is 1027 Rear Warm Air Fan (v47) and value is 'static'. When I got ...

Re: Engine light on but no message or performance change
I contacted the seller on eBay and they sent out a second scanner. This one worked fine and gave me the error code P2196 for the O2 sensor B1 S1 stuck high, so seems it is a lambda sensor that needs changing.

Re: Engine light on but no message or performance change
Update: The engine light came back on within a week of it being cleared. The garage I took it to didn't give me the detail of what error code had come up other than it was in the exhaust gas area. This weekend I got out the scanner which duly connected to the car but when I went to read the codes it...

Re: Engine light on but no message or performance change
It came on again this morning, but still only the engine light and not the curly one, and no ping or change in driving performance.
Will buy one of those scanners and clear it for now, but a third time on and I'll get it checked out.

Re: Engine light on but no message or performance change
Just the check engine light came on. Turns out it was an exhaust emissions error from a sensor. It cleared and has not come back again after another 60 miles driving. May be a sign of a failing sensor but nothing too serious. Only thing I can think of is that I filled up with Shell V-Power diesel at...

You are right and its something I'll look into after this one. Not owned one before so will have to do some reading up to work out what to buy.

Booked in for a code read at a local garage tonight so will update when I find out what it is.

Engine light on but no message or performance change
I was driving home yesterday and the check engine light came on but with no message displayed or any change in performance/economy etc. Last time it came on there was a stark warning message about driving to the nearest garage and it drove like a bad transit van. This time the only clue I have is th...

Cabin filter changed - disgusting!
I changed my engine air filter and cabin filter this evening. The engine air filter looked dirty but not too bad (at least looked like it needed a change), but the cabin filter... urgh! I was about to get worried that the supposed full VW service schedule hadn't been followed then spotted the date o...

Re: Replaced balance shaft and hex key - CBA engine
Good prices and good on you for doing the number 1 thing before any mods . I'm a bit of a 'keep it standard' guy anyway and it's been a good car for me this past 12 months. I was lucky and due to an engine light on the way home from purchasing it, the car now has a new turbo, clutch slave cylinder,...

Replaced balance shaft and hex key - CBA engine
So after reading about oil pump failure on this forum and speaking to KMB Parts Direct, I had my gear driven balance shaft replaced today. Total cost was £215 for the remanufactured shaft and hex key, plus £240 for fitting including new oil and filter. I took some photos of the key before sending ...
