Re: B4 Gearbox Question

Cheers both of you, haven't got the money to do it at the moment just trying to work out how hard the box is going to be to find a decent one.The original owner of my car must of been an animal to mess a box up in under 60k.

B4 Gearbox Question

I seem to be having issues with the box on my B4 jumping out of gear, especially when cold, odd for a genuine 60k mile car,can anyone tell me whether the 1.8 and 2.0 petrol gearboxes are the same ?and if not what other VW models will use the same box as a 1.8 B4

Re: Back in a B4

I'll probably hunt down a nos set to be honest, not too bothered about fitting fogs, just want to get a it all back to clear. But then I'm also looking into doing away with the lot and moving indicators up to the corners by the headlight, looked at it before and it's possible using a single bright LED.

Re: Back in a B4

Yes,1.8 Petrol, but that may change in the future. And as for the Fogs,I'm on the look out for a standard clear set, just in case I mess these up getting the yellow off,it's not doing it for me,also the wheels need to go. Would love the wheels I had on my last B4,but sadly I think they're probably lon...

Back in a B4

Well after a 4 year break I'm back in a B4,and it's nearly the same as the one I sold. :D Only has 60k miles on and is lovely,if a little underpowered. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c268/bootneck42/12193697_10153092112347115_5159716308577622293_n_zpssmwlryws.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums...

I need to buy a pair of new headlights for my B5.5 wagon and wondered if anyone could help as to where is the best place to buy some from and if possible any links?
Thanks in advance.

Re: how hard is it to convert a manual to an automatic?

I always thought it was odd how a country so fond of quarter mile racing would choosd a gearbox thats bound to be slower off the line. the only auto I have driven was my nans mobility car cuz of her arthritis. couldnt get my head round it I kept breaking all the time I guess you didn't realise that...

I have them on my B5.5 Wagon and haven't noticed any more wind noise than before, but you certainly notice a lot less buffeting when the window is open.

Re: How accurate....

Certainly on the older stuff I wouldn't trust them,my B4 once told me I did an average of 84mpg on the run to Poole and back, and the only way I know it would've done that is if I had pushed it there and back.

Re: Vortex exhaust

So they reckon their exhaust will see a 150 bhp Golf go up to 225bhp with no other mods, and you need to ask if they're any good? If they were every racing team in the world would use them,as would the car manufacturers.

Either way it will make your car sound gayer than Gaylord McGay at a Gay Pride March. Buy a recirc, they're better for performance and don't sound like you're trying to pull 14 year olds.

No problem taking the cap off while engine is running. Car has been behaving perfectly well today, maybe it just need to settle down or something after the throttle body reset was done.

Re: B5 1.8t Crank speed sensor?

Strange thing is it never has trouble starting, the light will come on and it'll be in limp mode, switch off and start again and it'll be fine apart from running a bit rough between 2-4k revs in lower gears. I may ask him to change the sensor even though it's not coding a fault with it and see if that...

B5 1.8t Crank speed sensor?

Ok,I have a fault with my B5,EPC light comes on,limp mode wont rev above 1500,but here is the rub,it's not all the time. My mechanic put the car on the diag computer and it came up it needed throttle body reset,no other fault codes, this was done and fault cleared, test drive went well all seemed good...
