Re: Window wipers seized?

I replaced the relay. No joy. Fitted a new motor and linkage from a breakers and now they work fine again. Tricky job to do but I got there in the end. Oh, and the breakers sent me a B5.5 motor and linkage first by mistake and said 'keep it' even after sending me the right part the next day. I have ...

Re: Bonnet Stuck - T lever not working

I did it. I wedged the bonnet open as far as it would go and used a screwdriver to lever the latch across. I used a headtorch and it was quite tight but with a bit of force of was able to get it far enough to release the bonnet. The locking mechanism needs a good clean and grease.

Re: Window wipers seized?

Any ideas why the rear wiper would still work with wiper relay (377) or fuse removed? Does it have it own relay and fuse? To answer my own question, it's got it's own fuse. The front wipers and window washers are on the same fuse and my washers still work so I know for sure it's not the fuse after ...

Re: Window wipers seized?

I just went with my multimeter and re-checked all the fuses and they work fine. None blown :(

Never an easy fix for me.

Re: Window wipers seized?

Thanks for the link, I can do that. I will check them all. I did remove the wiper fuse and replace it with a new fuse just incase and they didnt work still so I'm not too hopeful but I need to be sure.

Re: Window wipers seized?

I'm looking, not sure how to do that test, I have a multimeter if that helps? Can the wipers still work, even for a second, if the fuse for the wipers is blown?

Re: Window wipers seized?

Thanks for the tips. I will check it out tomorrow. I did triple check the fuses. I pulled every fuse. The wipers did move once but only a bit so I dont think it's the fuse as the motor must have had power at some point whilst the current fault was at play. I will check that there is power going to i...

Re: Window wipers seized?

Good idea, I haven't unplugged the motor, I think it might be too difficult with it still in the car but I will have a go and test it.

How can I check the wiper rack mechanism to see if it is seized? It wont move by hand if this is any indication.

Re: Window wipers seized?

I found the relay (377) and pulled it, the rear wiper still works though, and it still works if I pull the fuse for wipers so not sure why, if anyone can shed any light? Does the rear wiper have a separate fuse to the front wipers??

I put the relay and the fuse back for now.

Can anyone tell me how to get to the relays? I think they are by the fuses but behind the dash. I cant reach them or see how to get to them.

Re: Window wipers seized?

Thanks everyone for the info and help. I don't think it's the fuse after checking what I assume is the wiper system fuse using this diagram; https://www.2carpros.com/images/question_images/14187/original.gif The rear wiper and washers still work too. I tried moving them with my hands but they are so...

Re: Window wipers seized?

I found a video in youtube to take the motor out, seems like a difficult but doable job for me. I will try some plus gas on it first though. Thanks for the info.

Window wipers seized?

It was really cold the other day and window wipers were froze, I tried to use them but they didn't budge. I may have left them on too long as now they wont work at all. They moved about 1 inch so I dont think its the fuse. Is it possible the motor has blown or seized? If so, how hard is it to replace?

I just picked up the sensor and fitted it whilst at the breakers and I'm happy to report what appears to be a successful repair :esm No fault codes, the light cleared with the OBD reader and it's stayed off so far where as before it would stay off for a minute at the most. Looking for a side airbag sensor, part no. 1J0909606N

I have located one but it's outside the UK so I thought I'd ask here first if anyone has one to sell?
