Re: Free B7 NSF door black ideal for practicing detailing technique or swirl removal

I have a black B7 front passenger door which I’m fed up of tripping over. I’ve tried selling it but absolutely no takers despise the £5 price tag so I’m ready to give it away to anybody who wants to practice their detailing techniques. It’s a bare door, no glass, no mirror, no lock, no window mecha...

Bodyshop recommendation Sheffield

Autoways accident repair centre in Sheffield S9 4TY. I’m not associated with them, they haven’t asked me to review or recommend them and I’m not being paid. I’m simply just a satisfied customer and want to put them forward to anybody who’s on the look out for a bodyshop in South Yorkshire. The probl...

Re: Foglight bulbs

I have a 2014 exec style and also have cornering lights and fog lights. Having seen posts on this forum detailing that people have swapped out the normal DRL’s with LED’s I decided to do the same thinking that there was no difference however when I took the whole light unit out from the car I found ...

Re: 4 wheel alignment

Hi I cant offer personal experience tailored to the West Mids I'm afraid but I can recommend a national chain garage based on my experience with them in Chesterfield. Try formula 1 autocentres. I have mine aligned twice annually as I swap from summer wheels to winter wheels and back again. some woul...

I’ll be honest, I don’t know.
What with all this COVID poo there is no longer any indoor space to wait and view so I left the car with them whilst I took the dog for plod around the park

Uneven tyre wear on rears

I’ve just had a set of new alloys fitted and retired the factory ones for summer however whilst I was cleaning them up for storage I noticed that the outer edge of both rear tyres were worn a couple of mm more than the inner edge. The wear appears smooth and there’s no sign of saw toothing. Having h...

Re: Executive style 2014 suspension feedback

Sorry for the late reply, mine is exactly the same exec style estate with 103k on the clock. I understand that it’s considerably less than the 120k that’s being banded about but mine rides perfect over bumps. There is of course a noticeable difference that it’s factory lowered so rough road surfaces...

Re: paint touch up kits

Just a tip for anybody doing paint touch ups to limit the amount of paint and have greater control over the quantity. Use a syringe.....I’d love to take the credit for such a smart idea but kudos must go to Larry on the AMMO New York detailing channel on YouTube. I recommend autocolourz.co.uk on Ama...

Re: Water in door sill when closed

Yes so does mine, my door seals are not 100% impenetrable and I too suffer some water ingress into the sill that’s how my doors became frozen last week. The real question is whether it’s excessive water ingress. Do the rear doors get regular use? My rear doors do get regular use so the water that dr...

Re: Water in door sill when closed

At the risk of stating the obvious are you doing reasonable length journeys? Ordinarily when working I drive 35-40 miles per day and I start work stupidly early in the morning when it’s prime frost conditions. I have never ever had an issue with water and/or freezing of any door components however o...

Re: New alloys am I missing something?

If they are meant to be Audi wheels, maybe that's why they are not stated to fit on your car, because it's VW. If pcd, centre bore is the same, I can't see much issues. Offset and width can be little different, usually that's not an issue, and difference between both can be checked at willtheyfit.c...

New alloys am I missing something?

I wanted to run this theory by you all incase any of you guys can see a problem that I’m not able to see. Sort of like a proofing stage. I currently have 18” Kansas ET44 on my B7 and want to upgrade to a set of 19’s. After literally over a year of finding ones I like and then others come along and t...

Re: 18” VW Kansas alloy wheels.

Not quite exactly the same spec, mines a 2014 executive style but is riding on factory springs that haven’t been tampered with.
If it helps then it helps, if it doesn’t then it’s cost nothing but 2 mins effort

Re: Alloys

They are factory Kansas wheels so 8J width and running on 235/40. This is why I’m in such a pickle with filling up the arches, I think they’d look more acceptable with a deeper tyre on but I think a 40 profile tyre wall is the max I’d have because going up to 45 or 50 would look horrendous. My optio...

Re: Fuel measured by the crazy way?

I had the same problem when I first had my B7 although not by as big a margin as what your needle is displaying. The simple answer is keep going until you can physically see the fuel. When the pump clicks off at ‘full’ I absolutely guarantee you that it isn’t full. Trickle the flow of fuel with the ...

Re: Alloys

I’m in the same boat. I have 18’s currently and wanting 19’s so hopefully my little contribution might give you food for thought. Even with factory Kansas 18’s I feel that the arch gaps are still too large so looking to fill out the arch a bit more. If this is a concern for you also then I recommend...

Re: Windscreen not clearing (possible idiot alert)

***PROBLEM NOW FIXED*** I thought I'd post back in here so that the next person can use it for reference or get an idea of prices. I had an auto electrician out to test the circuit and he identified the blower motor was seized (and probably burnt out the resistor too). New motor and resistor purchas...

Re: Windscreen not clearing (possible idiot alert)

Is the blower fan designed to be silent or should I be able to head audible step ups as the speeds increase and steps back down again. At this stage I don't know whether it's working but completely silent or whether it's not working at all. Any other B7 owners like to shead a light on how noisy/sile...

Windscreen not clearing (possible idiot alert)

All, I have recently moved from a B6 to a B7 and the windscreen is the worst I've ever experienced in any car. My B6 used to clear albeit slowly with the aircon on but sadly nothing I do in my B7 has any effect with the single exception of driving fast to get air flowing through the heat and vent sy...

If this has only happened recently it may be a temperature/weather related bug. **confession time** When I was dumb, stupid and an utter muppet I used to drive a froggy motor that sounds something like ren-fault, thankfully I had an epiphany and saw the light and swapped the technically inept for th...

Re: Who wants £30 for fitting a HID bulb?

Paul, I honestly couldn't tell you whether I put the N/S one in with the wire at the top or bottom, it went in so easily and logically I just felt what needed to go where and did it blind. A tip for the sidelight bulbs; get the steering on full lock to get the wheels out of the way, undo two screws ...
