Re: SEPTEMBER 2008 - SLANGWERKS

Was good to meet you at E38 mate, I reckon this spot should be yours as you've done far more to your B3, and it looks tough as hell on those cookie cutters!

So, on with the write up! Although it hadn't been to many shows, B3 TYP was pretty well known on the Passat scene before I went near it ...

Re: blanking plate for b3

Hi Jamin buddy,
As Lowrider 76 says, you'll need a blanking plate. I've got one of the Cult Society ones and mine fits OK, but sticking it to the glass is a ballache! A DIY one would be a good bet!

Re: Passat prep for E38 - full machine polish and chip repair!

Haha, thought about it mate but lots of ballache and couldn't physically fit any more gear into the passat! I had enough detailing gear for 5 cars (mine twice and 3 others) camping gear for two, a shedload of beer and food, and a set of banded steels for my mate's Mk1!

re this bit -
These were touched in then flatted back with Menzerna Power Gloss and then Intensive Polish on an Elite Coolfoam pad via rotary, working up to around 3000rpm then back down finishing at 900.

Passat prep for E38 - full machine polish and chip repair!

So, finally found a bit of time to detail the bus before E38. 8 hours on Thursday to be precise! A full detail in this time was unlikley, but I was determined to do as much as possible.

So, here we are at the kick off, 11am at my mate's unit, EuroPerformance:

B3 TYP - the detailing bus!

After 7 mk2's and one corrado, and with a massive pile of detailing gear to lug about, it was time for something different and a bit more spacious!

So with a big thank you to my buddy Lesta, my collection of polishes and waxes now gets transported around in this weel-known beast!

Re: Mk4 TDI Detail - Leather and paint correction - no 56k!

Cheers guys!

Like Rich said, work like that on the paint starts from around £150 with me, and that's fairly cheap compared to what some people charge. This job took 12 hours work time, and should easily last 18 months if the car is washed in a safe manner and topped up with Wax regularly ...

Re: Mk4 TDI Detail - Leather and paint correction - no 56k!

Cheers guys!

Rich - Fast cut is more aggressive than IP, kinda sits between it and power gloss. It finishes down a lot better than power gloss, but it's easy to leave holograms with and can be quite dusty - as a result I mix it with IP or FF to help stop the dust and avoid the holograms. It's ...

Mk4 TDI Detail - Leather and paint correction - no 56k!

This weekend saw me doing a full interior/exterior job on a green MK4 Golf TDI. The owners have only recently bought the car, and wanted a general tidy up both inside and out, with the dullness of the paint and the state of the leather being the prime concerns.

Here she is first thing Saturday ...

Re: Howdy Passat heads!!!!!!!

Normally I'd agree with you Rich mate, but if the paint has been ravaged with T-cut then there may well be low spots that a rotary or orbital polisher may strike through - I'd definitely recommend a thorough paint thickness reading of each panel before getting a machine out.

Have you heard of Bilt ...

LO41 is a pain mate!

Is it swirl marks and defects that are the problem or you having trouble getting a nice even finish from your wax/polish?
